okay so i originally beat ff9 in 2000/2001 after it came out. i was around 12-13 years old. i recently beat it earlier this week for the first time since and it had the same effect on me as it did 9 years ago. the weird thing is, a couple days after i beat it i randomly thought.. "hey does vivi fuckin die?"
so i thought about it some more and realised that vivi isn't in the damn ending video. for some reason i never picked up on it. so i thought about the game and how vivi was supposed to eventually stop "moving" although he would last longer than regular black mages since he was the prototype.
so i took a look online to find an answer and just like i thought.. he dies. :'(
ff9's ending always made me sad but this just makes it even sadder. vivi was the man.
also, the ending dialogue that takes place during all the ending scenes is vivi talking to zidane, but i always though that it was dagger speaking. finally realizing that vivi is the only one NOT present and that the speech talks about things vivi experienced and the feeling that the speaker was soon going to die made me realize that he is dead.
i can't believe it took me all this time to pick up on it. the funny thing is im 21 and didnt even pick up on it during the actual ending, i thought about it days after lol. i was probably too sad and nostalgic though during the ending to realize hahah.
so did any1 else not know this, or am i just an idiot? hahah
ps. i love FFIX :)
