What about ToV and Lost Odyssey - and a mail-in rebate for Blue Dragon for free?

because japan can still make a console get to 10 million.
10 million that will give an edge to sony, if they lost it.
even if they can't get a foot in japan, they are preventing sony to progress.
japanese won't get a 360 for those JRPG, but probably won't get a ps3 either since the game it's not coming on their like to buy console, even at the higher price.

Why continue to shift resources to Japan if they are gonna get clobbered on a weekly basis? Why not devote more resources into Europe - the U.K. - and just forgot Japan altogether? Why is it essential for MS to get a bigger foothold in the country? A few thousand consoles is not worth it, IMHO. |
The thing is MS is trying to build a fanbase and it already has millions already in japan..Not alot but sure as hell better than the Xbox1,the reason it sold so well it has is because of RPG's and niche games,
they can't suddendly drop that kind of support because of that..And also one more thing ..what do you mean a few thousand? The 360 has sold a million already where are you getting your info from???

he means weekly... 360 it back to 2700-2800 and thats nothing.
Sometimes, the purpose of a company's entry into an unprofitable endeavour isn't to make headway, but rather to disrupt their competitor's advantage.
If MS hadn't bother with the Japanese market, Sony would have been in a far stronger position globally, especially with Japanese developers who would take the local market into account as well as global when making games.

Yet another reason would be if Microsoft wants to get into handhelds like they say they do
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I may be wrong on this... but isn't the Zune HD going to be a kind of MS handheld?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they ruled out making it a gaming device, at least for the moment.
