Forums - Nintendo - Will Motion+ go the way of the Balance Board, Wii Speak?

If Nintendo finds a game works better with Motion+, the game uses it. Simple as that. So hope Nintendo finds more of their upcoming games than not work better with it.

The Legend of Zelda: Wii 2

They are already doing it with Zelda, even likely the next one. This discussion is clearly about more games than that.

You cannot buy a Balance Board alone, or a Wii Zapper. For both you need buy the bundled games.

Until they allow stand alone purchases the less use for both of them the better.

M+ at least sells stand alone, is just overpriced.

You mean it's more than you want to pay. Unless you can prove the actual costs of the item are significantly lower than the MSRP, it's not actually overpriced.

Actually, according to the dictionary, overprice simply means a "to put too high a price or value on."  Since there's no mention of "MSRP" then KylieDog doesn't need to answer that unless you can prove MSRP is somehow the subject of that post.

Did you played Wii Sports Resort?

Trust me: as soon as you play it, you can see the need of Wii Motion Plus in other games.

Mark my words: The first idiot to make an 3rd person adventure with full motion plus support will be a rich idiot.

You dont even need to achieve Resident Evil 4 quality: just put some 3rd person 1-on-1 swordfighting and aiming without the need to point at the sensor bar*. Bang, theres a game every single person, casual, hardcore, never played a single game before, will like to play.

*(like resort archery, but in classic position, B-button fires the gun)

Dynasty Warriors+ comes to mind. Not calling Koei idiots. Just that they would know a good cash cow when they see it.

Yes, is to do with value.  To fully deck my Wii for a M+ only 4 player game it will set me back ~£80.   I find that a flipping joke and that money could be spent on a million more worthwhile things.

From a hardware view my Wii has cost more than my PS3 and that isn't counting 'optional' things like the Zapper, Wheel or BBoard.  I'd rather sell my Wii than fork out even more cash just to play the games.

Oh, you have to pay prices in Britain. I feel for you over there. That sucks big time.

@Daz: I see there was a misunderstanding there, so I'm sorry if I sounded rude. Look, I think that if Nintendo treats M+ as another peripheral they will be missing a great opportunity. Wii drew in players because of the motion sensing capabilities. Now that there's a better technology, if they simply release the peripheral just to get sales, I'm going to be pretty pissed. All those games that felt like waggle fests could be so much more if they tried. But as you said, I'm sure it won't get the treatment it deserves, most likely it will get 1-2 games max/year, and sadly games like Span Smasher, rather than full fledged games that could make better use of it.

If they use it on Zelda I'll be happy, but it won't be enough. It would be like smelling a good meal but never managing to get it inside your mouth.

Don't worry about the rudeness... it's normal some misunderstandings on the web ;)

About your opinion, I don't agree, but understand. On the other hand, it all depends on the way Nintendo approaches WM+. I hope it comes bundled with the console soon, and it becomes mainstream. If that happens, you can be sure the support will be different.

Nintendo would be best off releasing a revised Wii Remote with the M+ functions built in.

Even if they ended up charging $50 per remote, it would still be less than a $60 combo with the additional benefit of making certain all new Wii owners had immediate access to M+ functionality.

It would also cost Nintendo less to have to manufacture and distribute the dongle separately (assuming it doesn't cost only a few dollars to manufacture + packaging, shipping, etc.)

The only reason for not doing this would be if Nintendo is not fully committed to making M+ the new standard for Wii controls.

And yeah, I stopped using my Balance Board after Wii Fit like many others.

No, I didn't spend my money on Wii Music, and Shaun White Snowboarding is still in the shrink wrap sitting on my shelf.
