^^^ Care to elaborate or just troll?

Usually just troll but since you asked so nicely, I will elaborate.

I believe you are grossly underestimating the amount of work that goes into any online functionality which requires real time precision.  I believe you are overestimating the amount of code that can be reused between local and online multiplayer.  And finally, I believe you were just trolling and looking for an excuse to bash Capcom.

This isn't Sony's PR guys talking out of their arse, this is one of Capcom's VPs making logical points.

First off we are talking about Sven. So much for a reliable source. Secondly if it is so difficult to do why is it standard issue on other plats? I'm not downplaying the fact that it isn't just a line of code or anything, but it is far from impossible. Any dev who uses that as an argument is being lazy. Shame on you for excusing that. With the mentality you and Sven have no wonder so many of our Wii library is such trash. As for basing Capcom, excusing me if I'm calling a spade a spade. When you have a history of lazy efforts/ports and you are whining about how hard it is to implement a basic feature, you deserve the heat. Capcom has the rap is has for a reason.

First Developers moan that Nintendo dominates Wii software sales because they offer the most complete products, now there is a chance of offering something else they cannot be asked. Eh... i dont get it

Its called being a bitch.

Thats the only way to sum it up.  Playing the ""but but but Nintendo.""  shows exactly the attitude of this industry.  When they dominate the industry ""HAHA NO DEVELOPMENT FOR NINTENDO!"" vs when there losing ""BUT NINTENDO DOESN'T DOOOOOO IT!!!!!!""

The only other people you think does this.  Is a bitch.  They bitch because thats all they can do.

Kinda a shot in the foot when ya think about it. Developers complain when they don't sell as much as Nintendo games yet they wait for them to lead the way when it comes to doing risky and diverse things. How do developers expect to have success on a Nintendo platform if they willingly allow Nintendo to lead the way in everything?

They can sit there and whine all the time that Nintendo has a monopoly on their own platforms or such and such only sells on those platforms. But if they aren't going to actually try and out do, out perform, or even beat Nintendo in areas then they are allowing it to happen. Nintendo is a tough developer to compete with (MS and Sony are lucky they don't have to compete with them with their games) but you have no room to complain if you aren't going to even try. Just let them lead the way in everything and you'll get the sales you are complaining about.

I wish Nintendo would embrace online.

OT: Just because Nintendo doesn't offer something doesn't mean that 3rd parties can't or shouldn't. It's to their benefit to offer customers of the Wii something Nintendo doesn't already offer them and probably more polished offerings at that. They might find the hits they've been looking for.

Monster Hunter 3 will be online Coop :P

Having a hard time thinking of current games though....ugh.  Onslaught I guess....

Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!

Back in the mid 1990s game engine designers like John Carmack were advocating treating all games as being a client-server environment because it broke up the presentation and display logic nicely and made implementing online gameplay a trivial excercise. Pretty much every well known game engine has followed this approach and if you have to rewrite a lot of code to implement online gameplay you either have a very awful engine or you don't know what you're doing.

I don't know why people complain about not having online anything on wii. If you bought the wii for online play, you made the wrong purchase and it's your fault not capcom's...'nuff said.

BS. I bought the Wii because I wanted games like those that were on any other system only with Wii controls. There is NO excuse for third parties not doing regular games on Wii, none at all. Especially considering how easy it was for them to start making their games for PS1.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Capcom: "We do what Nintendo"

OK, I don't care much for online coop (I don't care at all...), because I think it's way more fun to have some friends over and play local multiplayer. I agree on that not every game needs online modes and it's better to skip a feature instead of implementing it poorly. Spend time on the main experience instead of half-assed addons, or something like that.
But please, just because Nintendo doesn't do it, no one should? They really are Gods or what?
