Considering how many Anti-Sony people that are on this forum, i thought I'd beat them to the punch.   So far, you could say that the PS3 did not have a price drop in Europe.  The 60gb and pack systems are on clearance and therefore not really on sale/price drop according to what the Wii/360 fanboys say.  (Relating to the 60gb price drop here in the US)

 The 40gb was never out before, so it couldn't have dropped in price either since it never existed in that form at any other price. 

 So, will there ever be a price drop for the PS3?  According to the Wii/360 fanboys, I would guess that it will never happen as Sony keeps bringing out model after model for lower prices and then clearancing the old systems as they phase out.

I'm just trying to think when is the last time a console manufacturer dropped a major feature to save costs. I can remember lots of times when features were added, but not removed.

I'm also curious if Sony will bother marking the package to make sure the consumer knows PS2 compatibility was removed. Or are they simply not going to mention it.

considering they dropped the 60 gig by 100 euros that is a price cut. You could somehow argue that the 40 gig isn't a price drop, but it does lower the entry price anyway.

But John Sobas, SCEE announced they are phasing out the 60gb so it's going the way of the US 60gb and it's not a price drop. Just a clearance sale. That's what all the wii fanboys kept spewing time after time, and one had retracted a failed prediction because he said it was a clearance and not a price drop. ;)
