I'm just trying to think when is the last time a console manufacturer dropped a major feature to save costs. I can remember lots of times when features were added, but not removed.
I'm also curious if Sony will bother marking the package to make sure the consumer knows PS2 compatibility was removed. Or are they simply not going to mention it.
