NPD reports the average selling price for the 360 is 260$ which doesn't fly with your anecdotal evidence.

Um, think about that for a second, Frogs.  Remember MS has 3 primary SKUs.

 

Elites are notoriously difficult to move. It's not unusual to find Elites from 2008 and even 2007 while Arcades and Pro's are most from 2009 already.

Then consider the fact there are no jasper Elites... nowadays people prefer a jasper arcade + 120gb than an old Elite mobo.
