Age of Empires 3.
I'm the only one I know that actualy likes that game. Mostly because of setting though (I love colonies, early guns/cannons etc...)

Resident Evil 5 - completely did a 360 degree change of what the original games were praised for (horror, shortage of ammo, puzzles etc.)

I don't think that was the reason the sales went down.  Was MGS2 considered a bad game just because Snake wasn't the main character and the plot became confusing 80% into the game?  I guess the gameplay didn't matter to them.

Grand Theft Auto IV. Huge disappoinment. It could never live up to the past games in the series no matter how good the sales of this game is.

Oh, I'll agree with you on this one. FF7 severely reduced my interest in anything with the Final Fantasy name.

However, I'll chime in with another vote for Chrono Cross. It was supposed to be the sequel to Trigger (one of the best games ever), and instead slaps us in the face with what they did to the old characters.
