Capcom has released a benchmark tool for the upcoming RE5 PC version, you can download it at the N-Zone website:

http://download.nvidia.com/downloads/nZone/demos/nzd_ResidentEvil5_Benchmark.exe (600 MB!)

It was also announced that the game will include new costumes for Chris and Sheva and a new mercenaries mode with 3x enemies

Here's Chris:

I ran it here and it's obviously more demanding than SFIV. I thought it was interesting that the cutscenes were laggier than the gameplay demo. Also, the two are extremely dumb and Chris consistently forgets to look behind him lol. I have an 8600GT with 256 MB, tried with 1680x1050, and even with the settings on medium I couldn't get more than 30 FPS. The average was in the low 20's and the tool gave me a C. However, it didn't seem to hurt the experience a lot. I'll check lower resolutions later.

here the screen u linked to:

Does the PC version really look that bad?

And whats this bench tool? Is it playable demo or just a drive/fly through?

Would be interesting if PC gaming wasn't dead (too me).

There are a few great games coming out that were/are console ports (devs tend to develop on PC, then port). Splinter Cell: Conviction and Bioshock 2 being the first that spring to mind for me, along with the belated RE 5.

When I ran through at (near) max settings it looked amazing! And it's simulated gameplay (like watching your buddy play it), so it's about as close to what to expect as possible.

No it doesn't look that bad as in that weird picture..
Anyway it just looks like RE5 on consoles, but with lots of AA.

OT:
I tried it, but there must be something wrong, because everything went perfect in the first two scenes (about 75 in the 1st and 45 FPS in the 2nd scene on MAX settings), but then went down to 14 FPS at the beginning of the 3rd scene.
Doesn't make sense because there were much more people in scene 2 and a much larger area.
I'll try it again tomorrow.

Might be because of the water. What's your processor?

Nah, he's telling the truth so he shouldn't be persecuted. Although he's overlooking the second half of the equation: His $300 processor (and to a lesser extent, RAM).

My processor was $200. Ram is 2x2gb g-skill ddr2-1000, and was $65.

Did you get a killer deal or just buy that processor? It's only recently dropped to $200 AFAIK, on newegg.com of all places.
