@ Zucas,
That link and the other links provided in that source is still fruit from the poisonous tree. Those numbers where quoted from a site that eventually removed the numbers. No one knows if those numbers are fabricated or are actual NPD numbers.
I believe this is where Edge got those numbers. This is the Internet.

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

Agree with this post. While crawling over a million makes for good fanboy talking points, it does not exactly inspire developers to make more similar games since bargain bin sales generate only a small fraction of the revenue that launch week sales do. |
Yes it's actually a very good point. Even if it did crawl to a million, this doesn't bode well for Sega making decisions in the future. Developers would rather a game to open huge and then wane off than open small and sell steadily for a year. Why? Because if they ship 400k in the first week they can sell it at the top price. But if they ship 400k in 1 year then a portion of that won't be sold at top price because they aren't going to sell it at top price for a year. Of course, developers love the situation of big openers and long legs (Halo 3, Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, etc.)
So if I was Sega, I'm looking at this and probably thinking I need to extend advertising. Find a way for it to have a good second month. If its not going to have a strong second month (from tracking perspective as it hasn't even been out a month) then I'm eventually going to have to sell it at a lower price. Of course, I'm not sure how important this is to Sega's library that they will wan to keep advertising. However, if I were them I would want to keep this title strong at least till November. Why? Well Wii isn't going to have a dominant shooter. PS3 and 360 will with Modern Warfare 2. Meaning Wii owners will come in looking for a shooter, probably MW2, and not get it. Meaning they'll still be looking for a shooter. Have the word out on The Conduit and you can get some big holiday sales. How it worked with World at War actually. Only shooter during the time and people were looking for it.
But right now The Conduit is in a little bit of a pickle. Will just depend how Sega wants to play it. But I have a feeling they are simply going to move away with from the product. Start focusing on their bigger Wii Title, Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympics. Can't say I blame them either.

I see no problem. What I see is that there's a need to reach for the rest of the Wii owners that do not follow gaming related media at all and have no idead about the core games. They only know Nintendo because Nintendo reaches out for them

Ya know I shouldn't have to travel all the way through this god forsakken topic just to find and ACTUAL source. DO NOT post threads with a confirmed link on something if that link is twitter. That not only makes you incompetent but it gives less credibility to other reliable members. Thank you Leo-J for finding a legitimate source. Apparently others can't do so because twitter is reliable to them.
Well I must say 72k is not that great. I had at least expected 100k from the game when NPD would leak out the numbers. Apparently the Wii owners weren't psyched about this generic shooter like the members on this forum were. We'll see how the game does in the long run but for now it's not off to a good start. And why is it when any Wii game releases it becomes a zoo for people who think they know what happens. Got one side always saying a game doesn't bomb and another side always saying it did. It's been out for how long? You know the production cost how? You are assuming and expecting us to believe you that it's a bomb or not? How about you put it back in your pipe and talk to me in a month or 2 when he have a clear view of whehter a game is a bomb or not. I don't want to hear the bullshit of well Wii games never bomb or the other side that any hyped Wii game is always a bomb. It's a fucking video game. Just like a movie, it has a production cost and a fixed number they want it to be a success. Unless your Sega I suggest you sit your ass down before it gets to greasy from all that bullshit coming out of it. I don't know what it is with all you fucking people about Wii games releasing and their sales but it's becoming a frenzy of circus people. It's annoying, it is discrediting to a once respectable user base, and most of all it turns these forums into something worse than the aftermath of a building fire. Stop the fanboy wars over this because there is no need for it to be warranted. Got the Sony and MS fanboys using it as a way to say Wii fans don't do this and don't do that and Nintendo fans using it as a way to say but the sales and production costs. You both don't know anything. Isn't that good enough for both of ya. Geez you all make me want to go the way of BKK2. I think he had the right idea. Get away from all of your annoyances. Miss the old days of the forums when it was just a few select people talking about htis smartly.

........................I've always respected your posts ever since I've been here, and I've never seen you post so adamantly. You are dead serious here. I agree, the forums have changed, and I personally am taking a break. When my Predictions League numbers come in next month, I'll check it out again.

Hey now. You know we people have our issues with blood pressure.
Ha ha, that post by Zucas was one of the funniest things ever. You can't even take it seriously, his insults against other members were so creative. Seriously, I've never seen such creative use of the word "bullshit" before in my life. I don't know if he was trying to send a message or anything, but that was hilarious.
| JEDE3 said: If PR doesn't regularly brag about game sales then VGC has a hard time tracking. Remember year end NPD numbers? VGC almost overtracked every title unless the game was A. PR kept sales figures up to date. or B. a fall release. That's why I don't like using VGC sw sales. They have a hard time tracking it. They always have. They always will. People saying NPD can be wrong too. That is true but the bigger tracking area would help better for legs. Thus NPD > VGC but official shipment numbers > NPD. |
Agreed. And hey Conduit outsold Red Faction Guerilla PS3 by 3k so it's not all bad for Nintendo fans.
I have a feeling it was overtracked, but not by half, wow. Whether or not it will have legs is still in question...we will have to see.
The numbers for The Conduit are not stellar, no matter how you look at it. Most people expected this, as its been shown, time and time again, that most standard demographic games just don't do all that well on the Wii, even given its large install base.
What I don't understand is the bitterness over it. If you're a gamer, and you love your Wii... why do you love it if games like shooters are your thing? If shooters aren't your thing, why do you care?
The Wii is a different type of console, for a different crowd. I think that pretty much sums it up, no matter how you look at it. It still makes Nintendo a truckload of money, doesn't it?
