the demand for sony erricson phones are much higher than before, Nokia is losing alot of potential sales.
but of course to "Demand" something is not the same as "Buying" something.

people want to buy sony stuff stuff but end up buying the cheaper stuff.

As far as I can remember, Sony Ericsson phones were nevert that popular. I think they lost money for years (or just broke even) even before this recession.

Being 50% down and talking about a higher demand is a major spin.

believe it or not , they are extremely popular around here, more popular than Mottorolla and Samsung

in here its

Iphone > Sony Erricson > Nokia

Nokia had its moment but people are getting into the more pricey phone and Iphone is pretty popular though its not much supplied and limited.

and

@kowenicki

you just hate anything sony right?

@kowenicki : well they made very solid music phone with the walkman brand that sold well till recently. Now people are interested in screens more.

If they can come with a good touch/music/photo phone, they could be back in the game quickly. The Idou is not cool enough in my opinion, but the Aino looks promising.

yes, true , but the Iphone is leading on this,  so they should make one that is lower priced and have an "Itune" like store.

btw why are we talkiong about phones in a video game site?

For the same reason we talk about Blu-Ray and Microsoft stuff which doesn't have to do with games?

sony eric had 8% market share in 2007, presumably it has dropped since then... so pullus your view that they are second is somewhat off... at that time Nokia had 38%, samsung 15% and Motorola 13%

meh your hopeless.

Bad figures, predictable thread title.

I saw this yesterday, not surprising, SE is in trouble, luckily Stringer has said they have no plans on buying out the venture.

13.8 million phones shipped (24.4 million in Q2 08)

Revenue: 1.68 billion € (2.82 billion € in Q2 08)

Net income: -213 million €, meaning a loss (6 million € profit in Q2 08)

Big ouch, sales and shipments almost 50% down YoY (Nokia reported 25% down YoY).

See, this is what I say when I'm talking about the PS line getting discontinued. It's not like they have cash from other divisions they can use to support it.
