i don't think so and just like the 360, as they both have 9 million before 40million and 60million, i think the wii will sell about 58million to 59million considering hot exclusives coming out like NSMBWii and Metroid Prime Trilogy and etc and there has been a lot of third party support lately so i think it can reach around 58million if not 59million

also because wii sports resort seems to be moving some hardware in japan and we have yet to see its release and its push for hardware in the americas and other

also what about mh3 i think it will push like 150k to 200k first week hardware so i think it can reach around 58 if not 59

but if nintendo drop the price near the holidays (just like microsoft did last year) to like $200 same as arcade, then it will be easy to reach 60 million if not more than 60 million

so what do you guys think it will reach? my prediction summarized are as follows:

without price drop (but there are still great games coming and lot of third party support lately) : 57.5million to 59million

with price drop and again still great games: 60million if not more

That's guaranteed. Until now the Wii has sold 7 million this year. It just needs 9 million to get to 60m, which is a given with the holiday sales boost.

It's very possible. And a price cut would just be sick! everyone in the world would get a Wii!

Its possible. Sales are suppose to go up during the holiday season especially this season where NSBWii is going to be released. I don't see it hitting the 60 million marek but I do see it get very close.

I will post a youtube video of me eating a shoe if the Wii doesn't reach 60 million.

In 2008, in October, November and December Wii sold 11 million consoles, I don't think that in 6 months Wii won't sell 9 millions, even with the decrease in sales Wii is having this year.

Why are we questioning this? Last year when I posted up my predictions I was getting all sorts of hate mail for not putting the wii up over 70 million..

I'm not so sure.  Times are tough.  People are losing their jobs left and right and there's a huge recession.

A month ago I would have said "this thread is stupid, of course it will".

But now, I'm not so sure. The Wii needs a price cut to break 60 million this year.

Exacly what we've been talking about just now :)  With wii fit plus new super mario bros wii and plus coming Q4 and close to Christmas, wii should at least pass 58 and the DS should merley pass 115 million.
