Err.. Mario timeline? Okay.

This timeline goes by the time the games were released, also by simple logic. 



Mario was originally stolen from his parents as a youth, along with his brother. They got saved and returned to their parents with the help of Yoshis (Super Mario World 2: Yoshis island). Then they had to save Peach with their younger selves (Mario and Luigi: Partners in time). Mario then had to save his girlfriend, named Pauline, from a giant ape (Donkey kong), and also had to try to stop the apes son from setting the ape free after he had captured it, and he failed(Donkey Kong junior).

Mario and Luigi, at some point got a jobs as plumbers and started fighting koopas in the sewers below New York(Mario Bros). He and his brother at some point found out that Princess Toadstool had been kidnapped, and saved her (Super Mario Bros). He then got a job as a boxing ref(Mike Tysons Punchout NES), and also worked construction for a bit(Wrecking Crew NES). Once again Mario and Luigi had to save the princess(Super Mario Bros 2 JAPAN). Then Mario had a dream(Super Mario Bros 2 USA). Then they had to save the princess yet again (Super Mario Bros 3). 

Mario then ends up in Sarasaland and defeats an alien called Tatanga and saves Princess Daisy(Super Mario Land). While he was doing that, Wario put a curse on Mario land, and turned it into Wario land. Wario was defeated(Super Mario Land 2). Then Mario got a job as a doctor(Doctor Mario). Bowser then kidnaps the princess when she, Mario, and Luigi were on vacation in Dinosaur land. Yoshi helps them save her(Super Mario World). Mario then gets Stolen by Bowser when trying to stop him from flooding the earth by melting the ice caps(Mario is Missing!). After that he had to save Yoshi from Bowser by traveling through time and restoring things to their proper place in history(Mario's time machine).

Mario was chilling with Peach at his house when Bowser stole her. Mario fails to save her but finds her later, and he pairs up with her, Bowser, and others to find the seven stars and save the land from Smithy(Super Mario RPG: Legend of The Seven Stars). After that, Princess Toadstool then sent Mario a letter about baking a cake, and then Mario found out he needed to get 120 power stars to save the inhabitants of the castle(Mario 64). Then Bowsers hatches another plan and steals the princess using the Star Rod. Mario frees seven Stars and defeats bowser(Paper Mario).

Then, Mario, Toadsworth, and Princess are on vacation. Shawdow Mario vandalizes the island, and mario must clean and save the Princess. He does this (Super Mario Sunshine). Mario then has to defeat Cackletta and save peace(Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga). Mario once again has to save peach, this time with his younger selves(Mario and Luigi: Partners in time). Then Mario must open the thousand year door and save peach. (Paper Mario: Thousand Year door). Then Bowser Junior steals Princess peach, and Mario saves her(New Super Mario Bros). Mario then must fulfill the prophecy of the light protaganist(Super Paper Mario). Mario then has to save Peach from Bowser, at the center of the universe. He collects powerstars to get her. (Super Mario Galaxy). Then, Mario and Luigi once again have to pair up, but this time in Bowsers stomach(Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story).

Did I miss any games? I do not include games like Mario Kart, Party, or Tennis, because they are not part of the story, as they are obviously unrelated games using the gimmick of a Mario theme to make them seem more interesting.

How could he have warned Zelda? She was already stolen before he got entrance to the Master sword. It's not like the Master sword is a time machine, it only retured him to right after Zelda had to flee from Ganon. Link could not have warned Zelda, unless he somehow found out where Impa had ridden with her.

What he did wasn't meaningless, he saved that timeline. When he went back, the events never happened in the first place, but that alternatime Hyrule with adult Zelda still existed... Assuming Link could just go back in time and warn Zelda, an alternate future where he never saved Hyrule still would have existed, and Ganon would still be ruling over Hyrule. He would be raping princess Zelda every night, because link wasn't there to save her. Does that makes you feel good about your suggestion?

What exactly prevents MM from happening? How is the child timeline "fake"? That doesn't make sense. When Zelda sent Link to the past, she and her world still existed, with Ganon sealed away by the sages. When Link got sent back, he gave Zelda the three stones and never opened the the door to the master sword, meaning that future never happened. This creates two timeline, one with him as a child, and Ganon sealed before he gained power. The other with him not there at all, where Ganon is sealed after gaining power.

I think this is about as close as anyone can get on the available evidence. Funny I seem to lean towards the left side of the timeline (adult link timeline) more than the right, but the right has MM and TP and the coolest parts of OOT... hmmm maybe I'm weird.
