Forums - Nintendo - A release list history of GameCube vs. Wii

I think that at least 2 of the 4 games you put on 2011 are going to be the holiday 2010 games. As Miyamoto said, SMG2 is very very far in development, and the only reason it isn`t a 2009 is because of NSMBWii so a Q2 2010 release date is a given, same for Metroid Other M. That leaves the biggest quarter of the year completely empty, meaning that there is where at least 2 of these 4 games come: Zelda, Pikmin, Retros game or the Vitality sensor game.

It is interesting that they've put less focus on Mario Party. While it's not abad thing for us, I wonder what the reasoning was.

Because Wii Sports, and Mario and Sonic have proved better party games, and WSResort is coming too..... and it is one of the few areas where third parties are actually making an effort on the Wii.

Mario Party is no longer needed, and I am pefectly fine with that.

I'm not fine with mario party gone. They should release the final version.

Wii motion plus support, that can make the mini games awesome. Online. More boards.

Mario Party Wii. And not release a single mario party until the new gen... or never. But I'm still waiting for the final version.

PS It should also include the duel game (when you have a partner following you, either back or front, and you have to fight), like in mario party 3. Damn, that was a sweet game.

Why do people knock Wii for not having a Star Fox or F-Zero game as though the generation is already over?

I've made this same list here and elsewhere before as well and it always amazes me how people still attempt to claim Nintendo is either not catering to them or leaving out too many franchises.

Don't forget that both Star Fox and F-Zero were outsourced to 3rd parties on the GC much like Punch-Out!! for Wii.

I'm no MP fan myself but it's obviously an easy seller on Wii and it's bizarre that it's seemingly discontinued.  More bizarre because it's Hudson not Nintendo making them so it's not taking from Nintendo's resources.  I don't think Wii games quite cater to the same crowd although there is some overlap.    I expected MP9 with balance board and MP10 with BB & WM+ support but so far nothing.   Love to know the thinking behind that decision.

I think you're not far off. If anything's going to slip into 2010, it sounds like it's Pikmin 3. They didn't even have the basic setup work done on it until this E3, so real development has only just begun. It seems like they've had Zelda Wii brewing for quite a bit, since they're more willing to talk about it.

My guess is that Mario Galaxy 2 will indeed be Q1 or Q2 2010 (either March or April), and then Other M will be a Summer game, then Zelda Wii on in autumn.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I do like how Mario Party stopped being released yearly, though I do hope they come out with a new one for the Wii. I haven't played the Wii one, but from what I've heard it, it could use some improvement.

The series started to feel irrelevent, hopefully they can treat the franchise with a little more care (even if it must be outsourced). The 1-2 games per gen sorta thing.

SNES US Launch Year:  1991
N64's US Launch Year:  1996.
Gamecube's US Launch Year:  2001
Wii's US Launch Year:  2006.

SNES Star Fox:  1993
N64 Star Fox:  1997.
Gamecube's Star Fox:  2002.
Wii's Star Fox:  2007.  2008.  ????

We're at the halfway point in this generation.  The Wii's Star Fox is still missing over 2 and a half years later.  Even the SNES Star Fox came within  2 years of the system's launch.  People aren't pissed because the Wii isn't going to get a Star Fox game, people are pissed because every system Nintendo has launched starting with the SNES has had a Star Fox game by this time in their respective life cycles.

What? Where did this happen?

All I've been saying is that it's quite surprising that Nintendo was able to release at least one main game from their main series on the GameCube the first two years it appeared on the market compared to the Wii. Or what, is F-Zero and Star Fox not an important franchise for Nintendo anymore? o_O

I guess WOW explained my feelings perfectly though.

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
