Forums - Nintendo - Dragon Quest IX First Day Sale:

OMG, and we thought Japan has given up on gaming

Well, it's confirmed. DQIX just flopped. Look at the numbers: with 105m DS owners, and not even 3m sales, less than 3% of DS owners bought this title. Put another way, 97% of DS owners REJECTED this title. Anywhere else, a 97% rejection rate would be considered a failure, but Square and Nintendo are trying to put a brave face on and spin this as a success, despite all evidence that, once again, third party games don't sell on Nintendo platforms.

TWAJ

you do realize that DQIX only went on sale in Japan, right?

in that case, only ~ 89% of DS owners IN JAPAN rejeccted this title on day 1, if that's what you trying to say

it's not as bad as you think, Mr. Sarcastic

Yeah, I purposely tried to use some of the hideously twisted troll logic I've seen used before, but I'm no good at being a fake troll. The only troll experience I have is making First Post comments to Slashdot nine years ago, but everyone goes through that phase at some point.

WTB better fake troll explain why DQIX is a flop.

Dragon Quest IX preorders a year ago were higher than Final Fantasy XIII preorders are now (presumably within 6 months of release). It won't even be close in Japan. If this day one total is correct, Dragon Quest IX probably topped the lifetime sales of Final Fantasy XIII for PS3 in Japan during a single day.

How many preorders does FFXIII have now? ;_;

Current user review score at Amazon.com Japan

Total: 251 users, Average: 2.5 star
5 star: 46
4 star: 25
3 star: 28
2 star: 45
1 star: 107

DQ fans (a lot of them are grown up) complain that the game is too easy, at the level that elementary school studensts can easily beat. There is ZERO adventurous feeling in the game. The number of enemies showing up in the battle as a group is limited at TWO in most cases. The developer (Level 5) has to scrape a lot of things because of the spec of DS.

There you go. To make DQ more popular than ever, SE may have to piss off some hardcore DQ fans. They will still buy the game anyway

Failed troll is fail.

Also,

So, in terms of total revenue, I think FFXIII will be highe

Profit iw what is important, not revenue, PROFIT!. And I bet DQ will have more in japan for sure. I want to see how hard this is pushed in the west, i Nintendo keeps up the marketing for it it could be big.

How exactly did he troll? He justed posted some early scores and they have said.

So no sources, then? I'd assume not, after repeated requests for it have been ignored for 30 minutes, even with the OP continuing to post.

Preeeetty lame.
