You misunderstood. The point is that if the movies don't make their argument for you, nobody is going to be able to explain why they're great, because their virtues cannot be made apparent to you. It's not like "If you don't like this then you have no taste", it's more "if you don't like this, I don't know what to tell you".

And I can take all this higgledy piggledy about the characters and even the music, but by what metric could the animation possibly be considered "meh"? Do we have different understandings of what those words mean when strung together in that order?

it means i thought the animation was ok, seen better, seen worse, i thought that was obvious, lol.

Yeah, I'm asking you to qualify it. In what way could that animation be improved? Just from an aesthetic perspective, in what sense is it lacking? Where have you seen better in that style, exactly? How can you possibly consider it middle of the road? What perspective do you have where that kind of judgement is considered legitimate?

just how it looks to me, i like the animation in The Simpsons and anime i watch better, is that a crime now?

as for how qualified i am to make that judgement, as were talking asthetics, surely, there is no-one better qualified than myself to judge what i do or dont like?

edit: if youre implying that my opinion is worthless and invalid, then i have two words for you, one of which is off.

So you're saying you do not prefer the style, which is entirely different from saying that the animation is in some way lacking in comparison to another example of the same style. Which is to say, you either did not say what you meant, or you do not mean what you say. Possibly both!

I'm not asking you to explain why you do or don't like it, I'm aksing you to explain how you find it lacking in any sense approaching objective criticism. Because I can say, as close to objectively as such things can come, that that sequence is still arguably the most beautiful piece of animation I've ever seen. It's still almost impossible to tell where they use CG.

i meant what i said, i neither like nor dislike the animation, i have seen animation that i like more, im a little puzzeled how anyone cant understand that.

im not an expert on an animation, nor would i claim to be, so i have no way of judging how well made it is, even if i did, thats not gonna change how i like how it looks now is it?

So we are in agreement that the animation is not "meh", but rather that the style does not run according to your tastes. Right?

Oh good.

Now.

What are you hoping to ask, exactly? What do you hope to be told? Do you want a numbered list of what makes Disney's library of animation the most fantastic in the world? Do you want someone to be able to set down in stone the experience of watching animation itself, the wonder inherent in the art form? I mean, what do you want? The movies do not speak to you, and obviously the fact that other people enjoy them immensely confuses you. So how can I help clear that up?

its more of a general question, im just curious as to what appeals so much to people about it, as personally, i dont care much for there films, peoples responses have generally given me an idea why, in so much that it appeals to many for many reasons, i only responded to your post as it seemed to be implying my opinion was invalid.

If that's the case then you are defensive to the point of impeding communication. I mean, really. Why would you even begin to assume that, especially given the post I was replying to outlined that the value of Disney movies bordered on completely intuitive, to the point that it defied communication?

More, if you were only looking for reasons, why go out of your way to tell us how much you don't like "Be Our Guest"? That's not looking for an explanation, that's looking for an argument.

I love the song in Mulan
