Forums - Gaming - I think we all know now what's the 'definitive' racing game of this gen

The definative racer is the one which causes more emotional hardship to fanboys when its released. That means it could go either way!

because mario kart wii has major flaws. The game plays itself, the winner appears to be randomly generated, the controls are wonky, WM+ might fix this, the tracks are dull, the variation is unimaginative and it does nothing to be a definitive racing game. It is the Definitive party racing game though. However, Mod Nation Racers seems to of done everything mario kart wii did, better, and with more content..

It only appears randomly generated if you suck at the game. Try sitting down with it and learning how to play it better. I could stomp you every match we played if you like. I likely wouldn't even have to try given your view of the game.

Before I start I'd just like to say that I loved Forza 2 and that Forza 3 is going to be great. I'd also like to say that Turn 10 and Microsoft have brought this on themselves with their big mouths. You can't go making ridiculous claims without having substance to back it up. I'l do a simple list to show how from a standpoint of features, Forza aint the one that's 'definitive.'

GT5 VS FORZA 3

More Cars vs Less Cars

More Tracks vs Less Tracks

1080p vs 720p

60fps vs 60fps

World Rally vs No Rally

Weather System vs No Weather System

Night Racing vs No night racing

Top Gear Test Track vs No Top Gear Test Track (This is important to some UK folks)

Nascar (although prolly only 16 cars) vs No Nascar

Can be used with alot of steering wheels vs Can be used with a few steering wheels

16 cars on track vs 8 cars on track

Little car exterior customization vs Full exterior customization

Almost CGI graphics (the trailer was 'real') vs Amazing graphics

No/Little tyre deformation vs Tyre deformation

Probably little damage vs Full Damage and Car rolls

..........Doesn't look all that 'definitive' to me.

1. How do you know GT5 will have more than 100 tracks? Source please.

2. "Almost CGI graphics (the trailer was 'real') vs Amazing graphics" - Huge LOL @ believing in a pre-rendered trailer (or graphics running in 10 frames per seconde then speed up whatever technique was used for some parts). The truth is that Forza 3 beats GT5p in grafix, GT5 grafix we have no proof yet.

3. "Probably little damage (GT5) vs Full Damage and Car rolls (Forza 3)"  - Damage is almost everything, very important. Yes, I am afraid too that GT5 will only have 'damage light', which in my book definately don't qualify as the 'definitive' racing game.

Winner so far is Forza 3.

I sense denial in your post my friend. All those other major points in which GT destroys F3 far outweigh damage (even though GT is getting some form of damage). It doesn't make that big of a difference. If you hit a wall in GT5p you still slow down and get penalties you know.....

As for your first point, most of that trailer was all in game replay (except for the blue Subaru bit).

Yes, we do know.

Forza 3 will NOT have more tracks than GT5, and even if by some chance that it did, at least 50% of them will be fake fantasy tracks.

It's incredibly easy to put fake tracks in a game because you can make any setting, any location, any setup, any length.

It's much more difficult to replicate all the details of real tracks which will in turn give you a better simulation experience.

OP kinda failed because Mario Kart is the ultimate racing experience this gen. It offers tracks and vehicles, effects that aren't in both games mentioned . Plus it is the most popular racing game ever.

Oh dear. This again. Turn 10 did not bribe anyone on that C-Net pole. The posted a message on their own forums, ya know, the place where all the people like Forza and would have voted for Forza over GT5 anyway... The fact that they only lost by 400 votes when the GT franchise is like 5 times as big does say something, though

They lost by 1200 votes, they clsoed the poll as GT started winning it more and more.

Thats a American game on a American console lost on a American website to a Japanses game on a Japanese console, you are right it does say alot.

There is only one thing on there that really matters, the Top Gear test track

And anyway, there are still many unknowns with Gran Turismo, such as the damage and more
