But I loved Oblivion though. Can anyone compare this to Oblivion with out the nostalgia factor skewing their opinion? |
It's the difference between an ocean of water that's only two feet deep and a lake that goes down several miles. Daggerfall has more of everything than any Elder Scrolls game (or any other game, for that matter); there are literally hundreds of towns and villages, dozens of factions, and thousandsof dungeons. Geographically, Morrowind makes up something like 0.001% of the area that Daggerfall does.
The problem is that most of this is randomly generated, and that due to the scope the game is buggy as f***. You can spend months of real time just exploring and adventuring, but aside from the Main Quest most of it isn't really all that tightly focused or crafted. You'll be overwhelmed more by the freedom and quanity than you will the quality and depth.
It's still fun, mind you, and lots of folks swear by this game just because of how completely open-ended it is, but don't come looking for tight narratives or scripted events.
Also, it's going to kill you. A lot.
