Good line-up

But now compare it to whats available on the VC... its no contest VC > XBLA

I respectfully disagree. Much of what's on XBLA are enhanced versions of games on the VC. And much of what's on the VC is, for lack of a better word, vintage crap. Some of these games that I enjoyed as a youth haven't aged well at all. The VC caters to nostalgia buffs, but they really need to update some of their classics. Most XBLA games are either totally original or are classic games that updated for a new gen.....and still throw in the older version, too. The biggest thing that the VC has going for it is that its the only place for Nintendo classics.

My opinion.

Why would anyone want an enhanced version of a classic game? You buy those games for nostalgia not for the graphics... VC just has a lot more games then XBLA. I guess it's just me, but I really don't understand why anyone would want enhanced graphics if they're playing a classic game from there youth.---> My opinion

And the fact that VC has nintendo classics makes it an insta win already tbh.--> That's just my opinion ofcourse.

With all that said, XBLA and VC are far superior then PSN.---> Fact

I guess if you want enhanced graphics on everything and ruin it in some(not all) cases(TMNT for example) then XBLA is going to be your favorite. If you don't want that, and I think a lot of people don't want that, then VC is going to be your favorite.---> Conclusion

That's my opinion on it. Two different opinions, but let's just respect that.

It doesn't make sense to me to put VC in the same category as XBLA and PSN, since both those services bring something new to the table while VC is basically just ROM dumps.  A more valid comparison would be to compare WiiWare to them since it's their equivalent.

As for being a purist you must really hate games like Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, Resident Evil 1 Remake, and Chrono Trigger DS.  I mean the Wii's motion controls must have fundamentally changed that game's difficulty from what it was on the PS2 and GameCube.  As for Resident Evil 1 Remake it is basically doing the same thing that these other "enhanced" games are.

Awesome, I'm getting tired of seeing so many puzzle games on XBLA.

wow so many good Downloadable games, good job microsoft.

Yeah, I don't want graphical upgrades on classic games. It seems like they just ripped the soul out of TMNT.

How come the only example that you guys can come up with of an old game that has been "ruined" by XBLA is TMNT?

Which by the way is premature considering the game has not even been released yet!

How about comparing the XBLA version of Ikaruga (which is only $5 this week), to the Gamecube/Dreamcast version?

Let's see... Ikaruga XBLA has 720p HD, Video Replay, horizontal and vertical screen modes, Online Multiplayer, Achievements, Leaderboards... all for only $5-10.

Right now on Amazon the cheapest used Gamecube copy (in "acceptable" condition) is $20 and it's at least $70 new.. and how many of those features do you get for that price?

Deal of the Week: Ikaruga

Xbox LIVE Gold Members can now grab the Arcade game Ikaruga for only 400 points. Normally 800 points, this Deal of the Week will be available until Monday, July 20th.

Add Ikaruga to your Xbox 360 download queue: http://marketplace.xbox.com/games/offers/00000001-0000-4000-8000-000058410878?cid=majornelson&partner=majornelson

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

See... the thing that kinda pisses me off about XBL is how accounts are tied to systems. My roommate owns a x360, but I'm very reluctant to buy any XBLA games myself as if he ever moves out and I have content on his 360, there is no way for me to use that content on another x360, unlike the ps3. There is a lot of good games on XBLA though.

Damnit I don't want to pay $40 to play Ikagura :/

I'm so excited for Monkey Island, have they given a release date (or release window) on that for XBL?

Monkey Island and Madballs will both be out this Wednesday morning, so the release window is "approximately 38-40 hours from now".
