FFXII did 1.9M and that was supposedly rubbish, although I liked it. If it releases xmas 2008 in Japan the ps3 should have a userbase of atleast 5M HARDCORE gamers, the sought of people who go out and buy FF games first week.

You can say the PS2 had a userbase of 20M, but FF fans are mainly hardcore gamers so would have already bought a PS3 for FFXIII or will buy a PS3 for the game.

I don't care much for first week sales, but I expect they'll both do slightly over a million.

As for lifetime, I see Super Mario Galaxy passing 10 million around halfway through 08. Final Fantasy XIII will probably end up around 4 million, although I can see as much as 6 million happening if it's even better than expected and the PS3's user base has grown to a decent size by the time it's out.

I'm only going to do lifetime Worldwide.

Super Mario Galaxy: 13-15 Million

Final Fantasy XIII: 5-6 Million

The PS3 has been out for (nearly) 11 Months and has only sold 1.2 Million units in Japan and the low software sales implies that quite a few of these people bought it as a Blu-Ray player; over the next 13 months the PS3 will be lucky to sell an additional 2.5 Million units in Japan which would also be made up of quite a few people who bought it as a Blu-Ray player.

Basically, the PS3 will be lucky to have 3 Million gamers in Japan by the end of 2008 ...

I think it's soriku's sad attempt at trying to prove Super Mario Galaxy is > FF13 which is probably the second biggest sony exclusive behind GT thefore those games won't help PS3 sales as much as Mario Galaxy will raise wii sales, therefore the Wii will stay in the lead.

It's just a theory though.

well, price cut in october looks almost certain, big games coming out before FFXIII will boost sales, MGS4, GT5 etc. also i think this christmas it will sell more than last year.

I admit the pairing makes little to no sense, but I don't see how it would be trolling? Are you suggesting FFXIII won't sell good, cause I think it'll sell very good.

Why don't we pair up something else, like SMG VS SSBB?

That would be more interesting. We'll have to wait over a year to even discuss sales of FFXIII.
