Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else significantly less interested in TMNT: Smash-Up now?

actually my interest was at 0/100.... now it's at 1/100

It softened my interest some. I'd rather them put more focus on incorporating TMNT characters. Or at least, if they will include these characters, make them surprises after playing the game some so it gets more press AFTER release, and not now.

I am. It really killed my interest in the game to be honest.

I also hate that they added a feature that in no way detracts from the amount of other features they will put in. Those jerks :P

Yeah, because the rabbids just magically appeared in the game - There's no way they actually took time to program. Of course they just found the code lying on their computers one morning and stuck it in. No, they put their resources to putting rabbids in the game before we've even seen a good TMNT-roster. It does detract from the game, if the actual TMNT-roster isn't properly filled out. Deny it all you want, but you're wrong.

So Snake kicking the crap out of Sonic is good, but Sam Fischer making rabbid tartar is bad??

The turles have been traveling to all sorts of odd places for 25 years now.
Floating cowheads, Rabbit Ronin, squids in bodysuits, I fail to see how rabbids are that out of place. As long as they do a good job of getting characters that are Turtle-related there is no issue for me. Because of legal issues there are Turtle characters that have never interacted with each other. That and if they got permission for Usagi, it would be pretty nifty,
Star wars was in Soul Calibur, Dc in Martal Kombat, Marvel vs. Capcom I really don't see it as a big deal. If the gameplay is good, then no one will care. If it sucks, then - well- no one will care.

I am optimistic yet reserved. There have been disappointing Turtle games in the past, but it looks like they trying something new-ish with them. I will at least rent it with crossed fingers.

If Sam Fisher had been in Brawl I wouldn't have complained. But this is a TMNT-game. Brawl is focused on video game characters fighting eachother. This game was meant for fans of TMNT and so far, most are disappointed with what we've seen so far. First some random Ultratron or whatever it's name was, then a generic foot soldier(which I personally think is good, but I've seen others complain about it), and now, rather than Leatherhead or Rat King, we get... Rabbids. I'm not saying this game has disappointed me yet, because let's face it - I haven't played it and we haven't seen everything there is to it yet, but from what I've seen so far? I'm more than prepared for disappointment.

As for your analogies - Both of your last two examples, (MK vs. DC and MvC) were based around the different IPs clashing! That's totally different! If this game had been named "TMNT vs Rabbids" from the beginning, or "TMNT vs Ubisoft" or whatever, naturally I would have no complaints whatsoever. As for Soul Calibur, see my earlier post about why that analogy works even worse.

Have you paid much attention to the Turtles in the past quarter century?  Usagi is owned by Stan Sakai, and is set in an entirely

different universe that just happens to have plot decive portals to it. The Turtles have teamed-up with Flaming Carrot, Savage Dragon, Cerebus,

and apparently soon they are even going to team-up with themselves. (Old Cartoon and New according to hints at their website.) It is completely

keeping with Ninja Turtle tradition to have some guest stars in the game made by other guys. It really is. Arguing that the Turtle-verse is somehow tainted by working with other liscenses is not knowing your Turtle history.

Also, I doubt every Turtle Fan is going to have all their favorites in the roster no matter what. Each incarnation of the Turtles has had different companies work on it. And these companies own the rights to some of the characters in the various incarnations. Beebop and Rocksteady are prime examples. I would love to have a kick-ass roster with all the greats, but it's not gonna happen. Utron shredder is not likely to fight Krang. The mutanimals, Venus, Tokka, Razhar, Usagi, and amany of the other characters from Turtle lore are simply never going to be in the same place at once.  Give me a line-up with decent characters from the Turtles and I will be happy. A few easter egg characters is beside the point. Did you moan so loadly when a Halo character appeared in DOA 4? IT is the same deal. Liscenses alinged with the stars and the Turtles had a sidekick from whatever company they were working with.

This is still a Turtles game foremost with a easter egg cameo. Give me a game that plays well and a top 20 selection of the Turtles best allies and villians and I won't compain.

Oh, really?  I didn't realize that every character in the TMNT universe is already a playable character.
