Forums - Microsoft - Year of the Xbox 360

@mibuokami : yeah, MS surely has more incoming exclusives with its 3 internal studios than Sony with its 20+ studios.

It totally makes sense. They were just not on your list.

Ok Mr Tony_Parker, I'll call on your bluff

Halo ODST
Halo Reach
Magna Carta
Forza 3
N3 II
Stoked
Crackdown 2

Anything else you'd like to add?

Around the Network

your looking forward for an expansion of GTA IV?

@mibuokami : no, nothing to add. As I already wrote, it's still a poor list compared to PS3 exclusives, which is logical since MS has very few studios compared to Sony.

Some games you added are for end 2010/2011, so yeah...

Plus, most of those games are available on PC. PS3 exclusives on the other hand are only on PS3.

Let's just end this discussion with how each company has a great line up?

Nintendo:
Metroid: other M(90%+ confirmed on Metacritic)
Super mario galaxy 2(90%+ confirmed on metacritic)
New super mario bros. wii (90%+ confirmed on metacritic)
Wii sports resort(70%+ confirmed on metacritic lol)

Ms:
Halo: ODST(dunnow, is this really a new game or what?)
Halo: reach(90%+ confirmed on metacritic)
Forza 3(same as the above)
Probably more, but I don't know a lot about Xbox360 first party games, sorry.

Sony:
Uncharted 2(90%+)
GOW3(90%+)
GT5(90%+)
Syphon filter 5(dunnow, but it's a classic game, it's great)
Socom 4(dunnow)

Every single game I listed in the first list is a PC/360 game, it was written to mock the amount the stupid chest thumping that happens regarding the status of its exclusivety, then you went ahead and created a list of already existing PS3 exclusive and a few upcoming ones all the while remarking how your list looks more impressive (and totally missing the point).

Then when I provided a list of upcoming 360 game to prove that yes it DOES have exclusive above and beyond games that are PC/360 which have just as much potential to be good and succeed commercially and your only comback is that it's a poor list compare to the PS3 exclusives and they are coming out on 2010 / 2011???

Lets get something straight, my second list IS 360 exclusive, not PC/360 as I had provided on my first list

your list:

- God of War 3 (2010)
- MAG (2009)
- Uncharted 2 (2009)
- Gran Turismo 5 (When it's ready)
- Ratchet : a crack in time (2009)
- Heavy Rain (2010)

So 3 @ 2009 and 2 @ 2010 with one unknown (but looking to be 2010 at this stage)

List I provided to counter this at your challenge:

Halo ODST (2009)
Halo Reach (2010)
Magna Carta (2009)
Forza 3 (2009)
N3 II (unknown)
Stoked (2009)
Crackdown 2 (2010)

So we have 4 2009, we'll even discount Stoke which is a sports (snowboarding) game and not a major release and give you 3 for 3 with 2 more at 2010 and 1 unkown (but likely 2009).

Inferior by who's opinion? Yours?

Let me tell you a (not)secret. My most anticipated game on the list is Uncharted following closely by GoW3 and NOTHING on either list compare to my hype for The Last Guardian (another Sony exclusive) which itself is then Dwarfed by Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 (Hah! PC exclusives)

But that doesn't stop me from recognising the fact that a lot of people will feel that the 360 lineup is superior and that there are fantastic games coming out on every console.

So no, the 360 lineup is as good as the PS3 for 2009/2010, just because Sony has more first party doesn't mean MS sits on its arse and does nothing. Plenty of exclusive come their way thanks to superior financial advantage on top of first party and third party contract exclusives like Epic.

Yeah if you remove 75% of the AAA games I listed, it looks on par but well... I don't say MS did nothing, they actually do a great job (at least until the end of 2008 and Gears 2 they did) to secure SOME timed exclusives and a few PC / 360 half exclusives but :

- with 3 studios vs 20+ studios, they just can'k keep up with Sony on the exclusive sides

- they will buy less and less 3rd party exclusives (they actually buy none now) because due to the big PS3 installed base, it would just cost them too much, even DLC will soon be too expansive to buy for them (23 million PS3 means a lot of copies to pay to the 3rd party pulisher)

- among those PC / 360 exclusives, a lot of them still make their way to the PS3 later in enhanced versions, like bioshock, tales of vesperia, ninja gaiden 2, probably mass effect 1/2 later...

MS does great, but on the long run, they can't compete with Sony contentwise due to the simple lack of studios.

Anybody claiming that a company with a handful of internal studios can compete in content with Sony tons of studios is a fool. Actually from 2008 it's pretty obvious PS3 has more quality content. The only reason 360 could compete at the start is because it was possible to buy multiple 3rd parties exclusives due to the low PS3 installed base. It's definitely over since 2008, and it shows.

Let me be the first to start this soon to be f-up thread with saying that Spliter Cell and Left 4 Dead cant be in a "The Year of" list since they're not exclusives.

So you basicly have Halo, Forza, a DLC and a XBLA game. Not to say that the first two isnt strong contenders for a "The Year of"-motivation.

How are they not Exclusive...Are you going to be playing on PS3 or Wii?

Microsoft has two Platforms....Xbox 360 and Windows......They are exclusive since you can't play L4D or L4D2 without Microsoft

/Fail

The thread is about Xbox 360 exclusives, not Microsoft exclusives.

If the thread was called "Year of the Xbox 360 (consoles only)" then MAFKKA would be wrong.

But as L4D2 and SC:C will both be on PC (and probably much, much better than the 360 versions) he has a point.

EDIT: I said Alan Wake and meant Splinter Cell.

Most of what he said. Though i still strongly feel that any game that is also on PC is not an exclusive. And this new "console exclusive" is just a way to spin things so they sound better.

The same can be said about stating that certain games aren't exclusive because they are on the pc. The fact of the matter is that the PC is not a console and does not compete with consoles. So a game being console exclusive is much more relevant than a game which isnt exclusive simply because it's on the PC. The pc also does not affect sales of 360 games or deter from the advantage 360 attains from having good IPs that the other two consoles don't.

Afterall, 360 exclusives (or 'microsoft exclusives') sell extremely well on the 360. Therefore, why make such a fuss about a game being being on the pc? Honestly, a game being exclusive to 1 console and a handheld is more important than a console exclusive being on pc, and even then a handheld/1 console exclusive is still irrelevant.

The stupid "it's not exclusive to 360" statement is a misunderstanding of how gaming universe function at best and trolling at worst.

Huh???? I remove all the game that are already OUT? Are we gonna compare pure exclusive now? Not just the coming soon? You're making less and less sense!

Should I have added Halo3? Gear2? Lost Odyssey? The 360 currently has more pure exclusive out than the PS3, this has been proven in another post a while back on this forum.

This is pointless, all your arguing hasn't shown me that MS has lagged behind on the development and release of games for its console. It's still getting its annual big exclusives with Halo ODST and Forza 3 being the two flag bearer this year on top of a list of PC/360 games that will certainly sell well (L4D, Splinter Cell), and beyond that, a string of smaller release has already hit / is set to hit that includes Ninja Blade, Velvet Assassin, Star Ocean, Magna Carta, N3-II and more.

Next year, it already has Halo Reach to be the Winter showstopper on top of whatever other game is being released.

Also the cost of buying an exclusive is cheaper than maintaining a studio, MS can certainly 'afford' to buy more exclusives if it suites them.

@dlcKeeL : Many people have a PC in the world (and some like me a PS3/PC) . They have no reason whatsoever to buy a 360 if every game is available on their PC in a better version.

So of course in their case and in my case it matters, I won't buy the game twice. I either buy it on 360 OR on PC (or I download the PC version on the net, but I like the games too much to do that).

PC = a game machine

PS3 = a game machine

360 = a game machine

They definitely compete with each other. There's no reason whatsoever to exclude PC gamers or PC games...

Exclusive = available only on a single game machine

360 / PC = TWO game machines

When 2/5 games in your analogy for it being the "year of....." something are DLC and a third one is and Arcade game, you know something is wrong.
