I'm sold I think Mass Effect is like that. It's boring right now! I haven't actually gone any deeper in the game and I get bored. But i consider JRPG's like manga or anime so I have absolutely no problem with the 2 to 3 hours of story with no fighting!

I hope its not like MGS4, all cinematics and no gameplay

No it's not like MGS4 at all.  It just takes a while for the game to start, Twilight Princess is the only game I can think of that I have played in the last few years that I can think of that is similar.  Only, this game has pretty much no gameplay for quite a while.  You just walk around and are introduced to the characters and are introduced to the plot.

Well, you just gotta prepare to push the X button for many times

As great as the Persona-series are, Atlus should really develop Shin Megami Tensei IV next, a new game for the main series, the last main series game was SMT III: Lucifer's Call/Nocturne.

I agree.  I hope it comes to PS3 with HD visuals but I imagine it will be either PS2 (if that is still an option) or Wii to save money.  People will buy these games no matter what and I imagine Atlus will not want to risk a release on an HD console...

Wasn't a Shin Megami Tensei- game listed in Atlus's PS3-gamelist? I wonder if it was canceled or put on freeze to give time for other games like Devil Survivor.

Really?  I haven't seen it on that list.  I'll have to check some of the underground sites to see what Atlus' plans are.  Demon's Souls is the only PS3 release that I have seen and I'm still on the fence on whether to support that one or not.  It looks to be an action RPG with online play elements and pretty cool graphics but I would have much preferred Atlus to make their debut on the PS3 with Megaten.

Sadly, they are bringing the original Persona to PSP and I don't have one :(  I don't really want to get one either as I know I'll have to spend $500+ building up my library on a system I will rarely if ever play.  I pretty much have to own all the best games for every system I own.  Its a compulsion at this point.

I don't have a PSOne anymore so I don't have Persona 1 or 2.  Hopefully they will package those two games as a rerelease or put them on the PSN though.  I would love to play them again!

"Atlus' role-playing series is in development for Sony's next-generation console; details yet to come."

"Ever since the Megami Tensei series made its debut on the Famicom (Japanese NES) in 1987, the franchise has been Atlus' most popular product, aside from the Print Club sticker machines that died out in the 1990s. It's no surprise that the company would capitalize on the franchise's notoriety by kicking off its next-generation development with a familiar face.

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, Atlus has announced it is currently developing a new Shin Megami Tensei game for Sony's PlayStation 3. No details have been disclosed, but the company may release some additional information during the Tokyo Game Show next week.

The latest Shin Megami game announced by Atlus is a series spin-off for the PlayStation 2, titled Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou. No release date has been announced for the game yet."

That article is from 2005. Nothing has been heard of since then.

I would say they've shelved it but it is interesting that there has been some kind of SMT game on a console for just about every year for the last 6 years or so.

Persona 2 (2000) PS1

SMT III-Nocturne (2003) PS2

Digital Devil Saga 1 (2004) PS2

Digital Devil Saga 2 (2005) PS2

Devil Summoner 1 (2006) PS2

Persona 3 (2006) PS2

Persona 3 FES (2007) PS2

Persona 4 (2008) PS2

Devil Summoner 2 (2008) PS2

This year they are only releasing Devil Survivor on DS and the Persona 1 port on PSP.  Does this mean they are taking this year to move the game over to PS3?  I hope so.  The only reason why I mentioned the Wii is that I could see them deciding that it is cheaper to develop for and moving it there.  Of course Atlus (beside the woeful Baroque) has only put family friendly titles Dokipon Kingdom and Trauma Center on the Wii...  Trauma Center New Blood is awesome BTW...

I think that was Persona 4. Persona 4 was really a PS3 game but they decided to just released it on PS2.

I don't have the link but I think I read it somewhere but I am not sure so just don't take this seriously.

Thanks :)  Battle with Kaido after he kills Kiesuke just kicked my ass. Mothman trio is a bitch.

Search is indeed awesome. As is chosing the abilities that transfer. But, I have not spent as much time as I could fusing, as there are multiple endings and I will on my next playthrough.

I didn't have any trouble with that one. 5th day spoiler - Did you manage to defeat Kudlak or did he get away? There's a battle I'm playing right now in the sixth day - it's tough. There's like three objectives rolled into one, and the leaders can take a punch.

@shadow, Nocturne is my favorite in the series, but I'd give the edge to Persona. It's more polished, fresh, has a more memorable cast/story, etc.  A couple of NPCs in Nocturne have shallow personality. What I loved the most about Nocturne was the setting, storytelling, and difficulty. It forces you play smartly unlike other games where you're just pressing the attack button. I also liked the freedom the game has: being able to choose your alignment (affecting the game's ending), choose your allies, optimizing your skills, weaknesses, strengths. The game is not for everyone though.

Not sure actually. He killed the woman (midori i think her name is, I'd have to look) but I took all his hp. He then seemed to run off? Pissed Kaido the hell off too.

And I got Nocturne on Amazon. IT IS ONLY 30 NEW there, if you want it, pick it up. Its on the way to my apt now, just waiting for it to get here!

Oh. She managed to kill him on my second try - kept using bind to slow him down. It was weird that the game continued when he got away the first time. This calls for a another playthrough.

Atlus are also putting core dungeon crawlers on the Wii: Shiren 3 is coming by them this year I think.

Also, I'll just buy P4 first because the music's better :P

Or maybe Persona is actually good and the Shiren series sucks.

What does that have to do with anything? Have you even played Shiren? I've heard good things about it.

But what are you talking about?

What the? Why didn't my reply work?

Hmm, I'll do it.

You said.

You should buy Persona not for the better music, but for the fact it's a better game. The Shiren games on the DS were not good at all and I don't see how a console version is going to improve upon that.
