Forums - Nintendo - Wii games that don't get the credit for graphics you think they deserve.

Inspired by this thread for 360 games, this is about Wii games you feel get ignored for their graphics.

But since this is the Wii, many think the graphics are easy, whether Wii haters or fanboys. Being less than top tier does not make the graphics easy to develop. A lot of Wii games still did things with the system that just couldn't be done last gen. Sure the system could have better specs, but it's not Nintendo's fault that would have increased the cost of the system. That was the damn laws of economics (lest we forget, Nintendo didn't lose billions to achieve those HD graphics). Anyway, this thread is to honor those games.

The Conduit is one. Reviewers largely dismissed how many effects the developers crammed into it. Sure it was at the cost of textures, but the Wii only has 24MB for textures (typically) compared to 256MB (typically) and only 8 TEV pipelines compared to the 24/48 shader pipelines for the PS3/360. They still managed to achieve loads of effects that many take for granted on the HD systems.

You don't have to like Chop Till You Drop. The fact is that 80-90% of each mall section is recreated, with only half the drop in texture resolution, while still keeping loads and loads of small details. Remember that house in Resident Evil 4 when you first see Ada is there? Now multiply all the detail in that house by about a dozen and a half (in short, you couldn't do all that on the GC).

Mario Kart Wii recreates some areas from past games. So what? Aside from the Gamecube ones, which only gets effects added, the tracks from the N64 and SNES get full makeovers. And even if the graphics are not that intense, those levels were also designed with online play in mind, and online usually means a drop to reduce lag.

Twilight Princess didn't need to be delayed another year just to enhance the graphics for the Wii. They are still some of the best of any game, shoving loads of textures, shading and mapping, animations, polygons, and effects, while having some beautifully atmospheric art direction.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

they need to start using S3T compression more to get better looking games sigh.

Hmm. I think Castlevania Judgment looks surprisingly good, honestly, though most people seemed to go "We dislike the art style which means that the graphics are horrible!!! SHITTY GAME!!!"

Twilight Princess looks absolutely fantastic considering it's a Gamecube game. That's about all I can think of right now.

I like the art style in judgment but that's because I've read all his manga though.

Most should. That's been available on all systems but the PS2 and Dreamcast last gen, and the HD system have it (they couldn't pull off HD textures without it), so even if they don't use the TEV right, they should be using S3TC.

No More Heroes had a nice graphics art style but I still think this game was overlooked by the whole gaming community.

I thought it was alright, but a lot of reviewers used that as a reason to give the game 3/10 and such :p

Indeed they were. Yeah, as soon as something is just a tiny bit different people will scream their heads off.

It wasn't. It has a lot of attention from the gaming community, and has sold 400k. Think that isn't a lot? His past games have sold in the tens of thousands. It's not been overlooked, and even its graphics are praised.

TV Tropes calls that "They Changed It Now It Sucks".
