Forums - Gaming - Muramusa might be released on the PS360

Do you bury your face in a pillow and cry when major Japanese titles are announced for Wii instead of HD systems like the PS3 and Xbox 360? Then Marvelous Entertainment's recent financial misfortunes may be good news for you!

The Japanese publisher, which has focused most of its current generation console efforts on Wii, appears to have its sights set on Xbox 360 and PS3. During a recent financial briefing, the company said that it plans on releasing games for the two HD platforms this fiscal year. Not only that, but it's also considering porting over some of its Wii games to the systems.

MMV is publisher of such games as Muramasa Demon Blade and Arc Rise Fantasia. While both were critical hits, neither managed to get Wii owners into shops.

Other Wii-only games associated with the MMV name are No More Heroes 2 and Little King Story.

It should be noted that the company did not lay out specific plans for porting its Wii lineup over to the high end consoles. This was just one of many potential strategies the company brought up during the briefing as a means of boosting its bottom line.

Still, we're sure many 360 and PS3 owners would love to see some of MMV's Wii offerings in HD (we'd even recommend the totally hand-drawn Muramasa in a 640x480 framed window!).

For MMV fans who can't wait for the latest news and impressions of the company's games, there's some bad news to report too. Another cost-cutting strategy the company will be implementing involves not displaying its games at major events. While the company did not mention Tokyo Game Show by name, this does sound like a strong hint that MMV will not have a booth set up at the September show.

Last year's MMV booth was one of the show's best, with games like Muramasa and Arc Rise Fantasia making their playable

No More Hero's 2 was originally planned for 360...I think thats the game

Honestly, most of their titles would bomb on any platform they were released for. The exception is probably No More Heroes. Muramasa can probably do another 100k to 150k in the western markets so if they lose money on it I dont think it will be much. These guys are kind of the equivalent of Majesco for Japan in terms of influence.

All I can say to that is wow. Now they wanna acknowledge MMV and Arc Rise Fantasia? Anyways this will be a stupid move by MMV and no game aside from Muramasa which can possible be XBLA/PSN title will help the company.

You think someone over their would have some sense.

They must release their games on as many platforms as possible IMO.

You do know that cost a lot more money than you would think right?

@leo-k j

I dunno if it will sell to that extent but PSN/XBLA have big shot of helping Muramasa. Thats the only title though. Porting over LKS,ARF, etc will cost them a lot more money than they will make back and those games arent possible through DD.

Oh I'm sorry Mr. Industry Insider, can you enlighten us in how much money a port cost?
