@Arius : some people are just delusional. They somehow forgot how a price cut saved the 360 last september.

Yeah, Arius, Frappz is just delusional. He forgets how a price cut saved the PS3 in November 2007 from a quick and painful death (although it did still hurt and is hurting Sony since they still are not making a profit on each PS3 sold).
Price cuts will go back and forth, Tim. Ultimately in the end the PS3 will remain in last place because of this. Their price cut only gained them 1.2 million on the 360's lead. The 360's price cut gained it like 2-3 million more for the lead.
And if you really think the 360 has no more options for cutting the prices, especially with this generation about to get shook up again in 2010 with new motion controls, then you are delusional and incapable of thinking creatively.
Yeah, sure. 360 will sell more than the Wii I guess, due to Natal games.

Nope, just continue to outsell the PS3 as usual. Maybe take a chunk out of the Wii's lead, but never catch up. The end result of this gen will be 1-Wii/2-360/3-PS3 .

So Wii DS and 360 will all outsell the PS2 in your opinion?
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

frankly, I hope for a price cut myself and even more for a slim console with better heat management and durability because I need to buy a new ps3 myself. I'm just looking at the chances f such things happening based on the few facts we have. |
PS3 is near profitable ?
Any figures on that ?
The slim version will definitly help, but they might decide not to drop the price to have a bit of margin to catch up...
I don't believe that price cut + slim = profitability.... yet....
Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.
| penguin said: I don't see any reason why he should be wrong, you only have to stand the 360 next to a PS3 vertically and look just how huge and ugly the PS3 really is, do you notice most screen shots never show the vertical front right shot of the PS3 ( the side that looks like it has a PS2 stuck under it !!) I would never have one of those things in my front room it looks terrible. |
This is something I am VERY surprised about that noone really mentions on this site how ugly the PS3 is, it's always talked about and made fun of in the UK, some of our biggest radio stations call it the "sony grill" instead of the PS3 lol, Radio 1 is always promoting the 360 as the main DJ's all have 360's (and some have wii's) as always yapping on about COD4 lol, not heard anyone one on there saying they have a PS3.
And yeah, totally agree, I think the PS3 is one of the ugliest consoles ever, it's the only console I don't leave on show under my TV, it's kept in a cabinet with the door shut (partially because we never play it these days), the 360 and Wii take pride under my TV on full display.
I think the 360 is actually much uglier to see around my TV.
It looks more like a plastic toy / game console. The PS3 on the other hand has a slick look and looks more like a media center.
To each his own I guess. It depends on your age too. I'm a bit older than the average gamer.
