Did you actually read the links you posted? Those are companies selling pirated copies, not just sharing them. The last one is the leak of an unreleased game.

Even if you were right, just because other companies do the same doesn't mean it's not a valid reason.

BTW no, I don't have hundreds of reasons to hate Sony, just a few of them (and they're recent, as I actually used to like Sony a few years ago).

My comment was directed to the whole RIAA, MPAA and friends. I mentioned it was about all the companies. I named Sony specifically to explain my general attitude about them.

They're one of the big four recording companies which engage in this savage pursuit of people who share music. Something went terribly wrong when these companies thought it's OK to ruin a person's life to suit their agenda.

@nen-suer: Thankfully, no. The biggest I got was a forwarded mail from my ISP with a complaint from some association, asking me to stop sharing a Xbox game I downloaded to try out a Xbox emulator for some programming experiments (it was Turok, the only game that actually worked on the emulator).

A game being 50$ and attach ratio to consoles being about 8 max, the average custommer spends 400$ + 200$ (console) on games per gen (don't forget discounted games etc...).
A hard core gamer would have 2-3 consoles and 2x the games so count a budget of 1800$ for a 5 year gen.... that's only 400$ a year.

For music, I doubt many people buy more than 1 album a week (I would see this as hard core personnally) that's still 15$*52 or 750$ a year

a Person living a grand 100 years will therefore spend about 1150*100 on hardcore gaming and music listening. that's only $115 000....


One can see this as a reason not to pirate... others can see this as how extreemly stupid the sums of these lawsuits are...especially since the mother sharing only 24 songs is not likely to be a hardcore anything....
