Wow, I didn't expect such a poor post from you of all people. I'll end this conversation about wii sports in 5 seconds. NPD doesn't cover it nor consider it software sales. End of f'n conversation ok? The only place on earth that considers american wii sports as software sales is THIS site. The only place it is real software sales is where it's not packaged with the system such as Japan. Here's a history lesson: In Feb 07 when Lost Planet was the top selling game of the month, Capcom released a statement proclaiming them the highest selling game of the month. Did you know this site had Wii sports as first? A. It's not software to NPD B. Its not software to game companies C. Nintendo would be releasing press releases detailing the Wii Sports sales landmarks if THEY considered it real software. NPD however does include wii play so that is allowed to be included in Wii software. PS: The same point applys to konnichiwa's ridiculous post. |
I'm sorry you feel that way. I do feel like it was a terse remark, but this technique has been used SO many times and I've replied politely so frequently to this topic that it gets a little old.
Read my logic above. It makes no sense to discount these games if the intent is to gauge frequency of use / future game sales for the system.
Again, there are a lot of people who buy Wii Sports/Play, and are happy with just those two for several months. Even if those people play their Wii regularly, they apparently have an attach rate of 0 and are playing imaginary games, because according to this system, those games don't exist.
I don't personally think counting them fully is reasonable, but I also don't think it's reasonable at all to entirely discount them. As I suggested earlier in the thread, counting them 50/50 is fine -- or just 100 percent of Wii Play and 0 percent of Wii Sports .Those figures happen to be fairly close in the US.
