Forums - Nintendo - Do "greatest hits" exist for Nintendo?

Hmm, yeah they used to have the player's choice range, no idea why they wouldn't have something like that now. I mean, games like Galaxy, Mario Kart, Wii Fit, Nintendogs and the likes still sell great, so it wouldn't make sense for Nintendo to cut prices on games like that. But I imagine it could work wonders for games that sell less well, like Battalion Wars 2, Fire Emblem, Mario Strikers, the Kirby games and whatnot.

They really should start a program like this. Call it "Join the Fun" and take older titles that no longer sell, and titles that never really took off, and mark them at 29.99. Sales explosion, Wii would have most of the weekly top ten on the US charts for a few weeks.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

The damndest part is that some of their B-and-C level games are getting price cuts (BWii is only $20 now, for instance, and Fire Emblem can be found for $40 in a lot of places). They're just not extending that to all games.

I don't expect them to do Player's Choice on Wii until Q4 2010 at the earliest. Give them to some games released in 2006 or 2007. I doubt games released in 2008 or later will get them that early.

I agree. It could boost hardware if people could snap up SMG, Zelda and SSBB for cheap.

Nintendo are bastards. lol

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

No, for the same reason that Activision hasn't cut COD4's price...

True, thats bcoz not all games are selling less than 8 million copies.

Are those official price cuts? Because I've seen quite a few games with lower prices as well, but that's usually just shops slashing their prices, happens all the time, not official price cuts from Nintendo themselves.

And of course they're not extending it to all their games. I mean, games like Galaxy, Wii Fit and Mario Kart are still flying off store shelves, why cut the price and make less money?

Still, imo they could benefit a *lot* from price cuts on good games whose sales have stalled.

I'm pretty sure it was like this:

Player's choice after 1,000,000 units for Nintendo
Xbox classics after 750,000 for Xbox
Platinum series after 500,000 for Sony

IDK why Nintendo don't have something similar for Wii, it's quite stupid on their part, as is the lack of bundles. The best way to intoduce new IP is through bundles (see Uncharted and... Excitebots).

I'm positive BWii's is, since it's so uniform, and I'm fairly certain that Fire Emblem's is as well. I also get the nagging feeling there's one or two titles I'm forgetting about that got official price cuts. And I agree that slashing the price of something that's still selling wouldn't be a wise move, but at the same time I kinda wanna pick up Super Paper Mario...
