Forums - Gaming - How long do you play a game before you realize you dont like it?

I finish every game I play, no matter what.

rpgs tend to take more time to like but since most of them last 50hours and more it's forgivable but when a fps take more then 20 minute to get into the game I forget about it I send it to the trash can or resale it, whichever required the lest effort.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

If the game has terrible acheivments, bad cover art, jrpgs, and the type of game.

Depends on the game and how much it bores me. If there's at least some interest I'll play for a couple hours or more before I lose total interest but if the game concept just isn't grabbing me at all then 20 minutes is usually enough for me.

Depends on the game really. I loved the poodoo out of Spider-man 3 Wii for a few days. I had not played a Spidey game since N64 and loved the swinging effect. I had so much fun with that I over looked the sucktacular game until I realized it was most amusing as a web-swinging sim.

Conversly, Masters of Orion took some getting used to with all that micro mangement, and the second game was really intense- even though I had played the first. Once I stuck with it I loved the game so much it is still on my computer. Moo II forever. I find that with turn based - and RTS also- I have to play long enough to try out the factions and lose repeatedly until I master it. Then the game starts to get fun.

Although I did play Final Fantasy Tactics to the end and that game was utterly awful on many levels.

?!!

Don't listen to the mean man! *pats final fantasy tactics*

:P

for example i bought street fighter 4 on day one and i sold it after 2 days, but usually after two hours

An RPG? 5 Hours
A fighter? 2 mins
A racer? 2 mins
A shooter? 10 mins
Platformer? 1 hour
Adventure? 2 hours
Action? 30 mins

RPG - If the story doesn't pick up and the characters are lame...

Fighter - Lack of depth or lack of fun I guess... most fighters I like. It's usually 2d fighters and ever dbz console game after budakai3 ... or b4 it that I don't like. OH and virtua fighter.... just didn't find it interesting...

Racer - Lack of fun? Only thing I can think of is Midnight club and a few more recent need for speeds... reason why I don't like midnight club? I don't know...

Shooter - Too simplistic... bland stages that just force you to run and gun. Crap online.

Platformer - Bland stages. Lame character.

Adventure - Little to explore. Too linear...

Action - Poor combat mechanics, generic or too repetitive enemies. Bland or little use of the environment...

hmm.. I realized that Ôkami wasn't really my cup of tea after I killed Orochi the first time and the game still went on ... well, I finished it though

I gave up on Oblivion after 10-15h, WoW 15-18h, Half-Life 2 6-8h

Case by case scenario. I played BioShock for 5-6 hours before I put it down, never to play it again. I played Bullet Witch to completion, twice and didn't like it. Some games, I know from the demo aren't my thing. Some games, like Final Fantasy Tactics or Saints Row 2 don't impress me initially, but after several hours, become an obsession.
