Great Western quality RPGs. These three franchises are made of AAA games that will live in the hearts of RPG fans forever.

I voted for 3 but i'm only going to talk about one.

Disgaea -

Great battle system that's always well improved.
Never a dull/generic story.
Great and very well done humor. Improves with each game.
Always a lovable cast of characters.
There has yet to be a soundtrack that's less than pure awesome. Loved each one.
Always alot of bang for your buck... The lasting appeal is insane.

I know its a little bit early since we still have some hours to go before the poll ends but I wanted to see what the poll looked like and I was surprised.

Final Fantasy is a no-brainer since most RPG fans have played at least one FF game in their life time. It is the most recognizable brand in RPGs.

Are Pokemon and Kingdom hearts really that great as RPGs? I was under the impression that since they are both aimed at a younger audience they are more RPG lite than regular RPG.

SMT, I was also surprised to see but the fact that SMT is put on every Persona game as well could have tipped the votes in its favor.

Not really. Pokemon and KH are the 1st and 3rd best selling RPG franchises in the West, so a lot of people have played them, thus, while their overall quality is lower than, say, SMT, more people can vote for them because, comparatively, there's more people to vote.

In the end, I think this poll doesn't prove much. I don't think that many people that have played both series can claim that Kingdom Hearts is a better series than SMT. This only proves that KH games sell better, and thus gain more votes

This I'll have to agree with. Had FF stopped at 6, it would easily have gotten a vote from me. Unfortunately, the latter half just hasn't been of the same calibur, and other games have stepped up.

Anyway, my votes. SMT was an easy one, because both the main line and Persona are series that I love immensely. Persona not being split seperately means that this is easily #1 in my book. I also ticked off Fire Emblem, though, since I consider SRPGs to be different enough to vote for seperately. This, of course, had me torn when I looked at my backlog with both a FE and a SMT game on it... somehow I'm trying to play both...

I went with FF by default. There is no Gothic in that list, and MH is not an RPG actually... so its down to FF.

I agree that is why I created another poll. I want to guage how many people have actually played other RPGs.

So far results show my favorite RPGs have not been played by many. FTR I have not played any SMT yet I just have a huge backlog to go through :). These discussions just move them up in the queue :D
