Forums - Sales - Halo 3 sells 3.83 million copies worldwide in 5 days

Where was that thread of predicting when Halo 3 will outsell the PS3?

It may be time to revive it

Any guesses for how it will do by the end of the holidays this year?

By end of 2007: 4.5-4.8 million in NA (and close to 7 million world wide).

Personally I'm hoping Halo 3 will reach 10 million world wide some time next year. That would be big.

that would be a 45-50% attach rate (an attach rate it has to achieve in the next few weeks before weekly sales for the game go below 360 hardware sales)

so maybe 1mil next week gets it up to about 40%, then 3-4 more weeks going slowly down to match with 360 Hardware?...i dunno really that's just a random guess.

So more than one third of all 360 owners already have the game. It will follow the trend of movie trilogies though with each sequel opening better but having worse legs than the previous version.

Depends what trilogy you speak of. Halo 2 already beat Halo 1, so the only trilogies it can follow are either LOTR/Bourne (they made more money with every installment) or the Matrix trilogy (1st was a hit, 2nd one smashed the record, 3rd not so much). I think it'll be in the LOTR/Bourne camp, beating Halo 2 sales and becoming the best sold of the series. It's already sold phenomenally, and it's heading into a holiday season soon.

Most people who unfavorably compare H3's sales to H1 and H2 seem to completely ignore that Halo 3 launched in SEPTEMBER. Both previous Halos launched in November, right in the wheelhouse of the Christmas season.

Don't expect H3 to drop massively in sales (aka. out of the number one spot) until November when Mass Effect and SMG hit the shelves. Even then, it will probably stay in the top 10 until the end of the year in most markets.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

its in the number 3 spot for japan, which is crazy considering the userbase, even beating out a lot of other first week releases. Not to mention it rose the xbox360 weekly hardware sale 200 percent in that region too, haha. Pretty funny, i didnt even think it would do anything in japan.

What would impress you then?

Just kiss the tip.

if it sold 11.4 million it might

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Probably not....

how certain are these numbers even? I mean using logic halo 3 would overtake halo 2 in europe by the years end, and likely in japan as well.

Note: Some games in my collection are no longer owned, but have owned.
