LTD, first 10 weeks, opening week, holiday performance (where applicable), etc?
lets c:
ODST- since it is an expansion pack/game, we've never really seen this type of standalone game. I will say increase, comparing it to nothing else. obviously, it won't outsell the juggernaut that was H3, but the numbers will probably be around 4-6 millions.
SPLINTER CELL- this game will be an icrease compared to the last one. which was double agent I believe. splinter cell DA probably sold around 2 + million on all formats. with conviction being an exclusive to the 360, with an already 360 install base for this series. this game will probably sell 3 + million.
UNCHARTED 2- well, with all the hype that the sony kids and the media have been giving this game. It shoulnd't be a surprise increase. It had a nice showing @ E3 this year and even impressed me with its ubisoft acrobatic-ness. the base is there, the fans are there, the developer is good. shouldn't disappoint.
FORZA 3- well its predecessor sold 4 million LTD. so I will say increase. a lot of that was bundled, in the US and in europe. let's see, the forza series has a huge following in the 360 community (probably cause it's an exclusive); coupled with the fact that the install base has about tripled if not quadrupled since the last forza game.
AC2- I head what a lot of you guys are saying, but I will say increase. the original sold 4.5 on the 360 and 3.4 on the ps3, combined thas about 8 million give and take, right? so we consider the fact that the original was liked by mainstream, trust me they did, one of my boys kept yelling about it after refusing to leave my dorm for 2 days while he tried beating it. I thought it was meh (sorry 'bout dat, lol).I believe with enough ads and hype behind this, it will probably sell more than the original.
L4D2- this is is hard...with all the "let's hate on valve for not releasing a sequel, when WE are ready!!11" thing. I agree, with the first still selling every week, releasing a sequel so quickly will only hurt the sales for the second. until, valve finds a way to recover the trust of it's community, I will say decrease.
MW2- y o y did they decide to drop the name CoD? i suppose they realized when CoD 14 comes out, it would of looked silly. so they decided to open a new sub-series. ok, great idea i say, for the long run that is. like valve until infinity ward, figures out a way to remind the yearly CoD buyers that this is really the same old dirt under the rock, i will be skeptical. However, let's forget that activision knows how to market their games, so increase.
Ratchet/Clank- the only time i played this game was at best buy. so i can't really tell, but from what we've been witnessing of the series, I don't think it will do well. I believe the R&C, jack and dexter, sly cooper, the bear one, the lizard one, the kain one and all those other platformer/action games were really last gen games. I believe that as of this gen, we've niched ourselves into couple of genres and kind of forgot the rest. mario doesn't count...
doesn't the wii have something coming out? since i don't have, it's really hard to extrapolate something for it...
I think BioShock 2 sales will increase over the original. They're gonna market the hell out of it and if it has a good multiplayer that'll just add some bonus sales.
Bioshock 2 - Decrease. There is almost no hype for that game.
Assasins Creed 2 - Decrease. Burn me once shame on you, Burn me twice...Really there is too much media hype about this game which makes me suspicious since the first was the most hyped game ever.
Galaxy 2- Decrease. It looks like an expansion pack
MW2- This will increase. The last one was so good everyone will be upgrading to this one.

^ This is you!
Uncharted 2: INCREASE. The game looks a lot better, it will get better reviews, Sony remembers how to advertise now, and the userbase is large enough to SELL something now. Plus, no staggered launch!
Crack in Time: INCREASE. Once again, ToD launched on a pathetic userbase on a floundering console. By the time the PS3 had any software worth owning, ToD had already been overlooked by many. Also, ACIT will have multiplayer and be longer, and of course advertising again.
Modern Warfare 2: INCREASE. Are you serious? You REALLY think it's going to decrease? Hello, WORLD AT WAR outsold CoD4, and it WAS CoD4 in World War 2 with a flamethrower and Nazi Zombies. CoD just improves with every (Infinity Ward-made) iteration, and MW2 will be no different, Call of Duty name or not.
Assassin's Creed 2: DECREASE. The first game left a foul taste in most people's mouths, and hey, SOMETHING has to sell less, right?
Left 4 Dead 2: DECREASE. A lot of people seem to be claiming it doesn't improve enough on L4D, and are boycotting it. Many more probably won't have heard of it.
Halo 3 ODST: DECREASE. Obvious one, here. It's basically a Halo 3 expansion, and it may be standalone, but it's a budget game, with a short campaign, and a HALO 3 map pack.
Forza 3: Depends. Probably a DECREASE. Lots of competition this holiday season, not least from Gran Turismo, and it probably won't be bundled as much.
Splinter Cell: Conviction: INCREASE. For obvious reasons.

Forza 3 will decrease with lack of bundles No way Odst will beat halo 3 Splinter cell on the 360 was released with a small userbase. And this one looks alot better. L4d2 Protest from the steam users(nuff said)
Was that good? |
I don't like Unchartered either, in fact, I've never even heard of "Unchartered". What does you not liking Uncharted have to do with how much Uncharted 2 will sell? If I didn't like CoD4 (I do like it), would that stop MW2 from outselling it?
Oh yeah Uncharted 2 will increase for sure! The first game is one of the best on the system and since they made it a bundle, people are more aware of how much it rocks now. Also, the awesome awesome demo that came with Infamous will seal the deal.
There is no excuse for not liking Uncharted. That is just ignorance.

So they are just going to blow off what could be a AAA game just becase they didn't like the first one. This is concerning AC2.
Assassin's creed 2:decrease but nothing major as sequels on the same console as the first games tend to sell less.

Like hype indicates how much it'll sell, this place should have taught you that
. 360 userbase was around 10 million when the game came out and it didn't lauch on PS3 at all, I guarantee it'll sell more than the original and might even give the original a boost in sales too.
