Forums - Sales - The Conduit will break 350k after 5 weeks

Ign are looking at 500k by the end of 09. I agree with 350k tho, its doable

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

Didn't you say this game would sell 75k and then 200k lifetime..

Me? No way. I always predicted around 100k first week sales worldwide and about 1 million lifetime. It may do a little better than I anticipated.

first week:100k
Second week:55k
Third week:35k
Fourth week:20k
Fifth week:10k

total 220k

350K would be a little bit too optimistic... 300K WW after 5 weeks

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I don't think that Conduit will have a sales pattern similar to WaW. WaW's Wii ads came some time after launch, and it also seemed to have serious stocking issues. Due to these factors, I expect Conduit's sales curve to skew substantially to the front.

1st week 100k
2nd week 70k
3rd week 50k
4th week 40k
5th week 30k

I'd say around 300k and around 800k lifetime. I remember predicting under 1m copies sold in some other thread and I think it won't break the line, Violent games just don't work as well on wii as on the HD consoles.

The Conduit also appears to be having some stocking issues. Just google "the conduit sales" and you get many reports of it being sold out at Gamestops, Walmarts, etc.

Yeah, but I think it's a case of the game just selling that damn good instead of stores stocking just a couple of copies.

I'm new at this but here goes...

1st week 120k
2nd week 70k
3rd week 50k
4th week 40k
5th week 30k

So around 300-320k and maybe 750k lifetime up to 1.2 million if it has lots of legs.  Which it very well could because a good FPS could very well get good word of mouth despite the reviews...

If initial reports are true I expect we can see a sequel to this one...

^ This is you!

I think you're all wrong on the long term success. Don't forget CoDWaW is a M title and Conduit is a T title on a family console. That will make a huge difference. CoDWaW is also a gimped version of the HD title so it'll get 0 purchases from multi-console owners. Conduit might pick up some (in fact one of my sons friends came over, tried it and wants to get it - he's a 360/Wii owner)

Conduit doesn't have the brand name of CoD but once this gets into homes of teens and preteens especially watch word of mouth to give it strong legs.

I see this doing 2m+

For the first 5 weeks 300-350k seems about right.
