Didnt they used to make good games?

They still do, shame on you.

Well on 360 this is what they have released, it is certainly not bad, but not special:

Perfect Dark Zero 82%
Kameo: Elements of Power 81%
Viva Pinata 86%
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise 82%
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts 81%

wow I did not know that their games scored so well.

Rare is STILL a great developer. I don't know how you can say something different. Check the games above, they did not release one high-budget game in the past 7 years or whatever.

Would you say Guerilla Games is a great developer, because they did a pretty good job with Killzone2? Sure, K2 scored well and has great graphics, but you have to keep in mind that this games was developed for almost 5 years and they had a budget that is rumored to be about 60 million USD. In this time and with this budget Rare created 5 games + DLC and the NXE.

I really want to see what Rare would be capable of with the right budget. So it is a good thing, that there is no game made by Rare in 2009. I really hope they will present us that one huge game for fall 2010 next year. With the right budget and development-time, I have absolutely NO doubts, that Rare will show us some great things.

So let's hope they are working on something besides Natal.

You have to consider that Rare has around 200 employees, compared to GG's 130, and the fact that GG are a very inexperienced developer, and in 5 years GG has produced 4 games, 1 was pretty average (Shellshock), 1 was good (KZ), 1 was great (KZ Liberation) and 1 was fantastic....

Anyway, Rare have done a good job mostly, though I would take a 90+ game and Liberation over many 80% ish games

This sounds a lot like the "Halo sold 10M, so I'll take that over 10 PS3 exclusives that only sell 1-2M, regardless of quality" I see from many 360 fans. Just saying.....you're going about it all wrong

It is not about sales, but my preference of what games are made. There are so many games released each year that interest me, many 80 rated games get lost to me unless I take a special interest in them

Loved rare back in the day and still love them now. Best games from them so far this gen IMO are Banjo Kazooie: N&B, Perfect Dark Zero and Kameo: Elements of Power.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

I played lots of their games in the SNES and N64: Killer Instinct, Donkey Kong Country, Goldeneye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Perfect Dark...

They should have stayed with Nintendo, they made pretty damn good games when working for them.

To be honest I think MS has kept Rare were they are on purpose....And what they have done more MS has been at the forefront of the Xbox Brand.

I know it's wishful thinking but Imagine that Rare will shock everyone with Perfect Dark 2....

But since they are busy developing for NATAL it is my guess Rare will have the Killer App NATAL needs

Yea, if you look at what MS has done, they're basically keeping rara behind the scenes. Rare is being used more as an extension of MS in the gaming division. They've had all these projects that haven't been exactly games but have been important to MS success. I don't feel Rare has been able to put their heart and soul into any game theyve made this gen. Everything game has been like an additional project never THE project. Yet, they have still managed to make good games.

I really truly believe Rare is as good now or better than before, Rare just hasn't been able to focus on IPs like in past years, their attention has been divided. The time is coming though when they blow it out of the water. It's just inevitable, Rare will be the main reason Natal succeeds and afterwards they'll make a hardcore game and possibly implement it with Natal and create an experience never before seen. Rare is MSs kinda secret weapon, like a good attack dog they'll sic them when the time is right.

You heard it here first kiddies!

Rare needs to do something drastic, not just have Peter Molyunex talk good about them.

Rare should hire a new lead game designer or producer or something. They have the skills and experience to make great games, but something has stagnated or become stuck. They need a kick in the butt.

Solution to Rare's lack of indendity - Recreate Solitaire for Windows!!

Solitaire needs a facelift (I don't have Vista, so maybe it already has..)

mmmm i know them since Donkey Kong Country saga and Killer Instinct on the SNES! (1994-1995).

Rareware became Rare

MY ZELDA COLLECTION

I think Rare just spends way too much time doing behind the scenes 360 development on things like avatars, which they get little credit for!!!

Microsoft really should let them make a game, whichi im sure they have many ideas for, and fund theshit out of it.

I for one would be very interested to see the result!

Here's a novel idea. Come out with a game I care about. Goldeneye 007 is the last one for me. Been a while.
