Forums - General - TRANSFORMERS :REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, HUGE OPENING WEEK.

it was revealed that transformers :revenge of the fallen, made 201.2 million during its 5 day opening . thats the 2nd highest in movie history, it finished 2.6 million behind ( dark knight ). its 118 million away from beating the original in 2007, i think transformers 2 will have a great chance at hitting the rare 400 million mark when its run in the theaters is done. i know alot of ppl who liked it alot and i know some how didnt, i really liked it alot and have already seen it 2 times , going to see it again this week. cant wait for the eventual transformers 3 in 2011 i imagine. :)

I'm glad I didn't contribute to that... Oh shi- *hides*

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Watch my insane gameplay videos on my YouTube page!

it must be the power of Shia Lebuff

I tried to see it after work twice, and it was sold out! I hear it's nothing amazing, but I still want to see it.

The first movie was crap, imo. Way to much stinkin humans. Script sucked. Michael Bay sucks.

Star Trek, by the same script writers, but with a much better director, was far superior.

As for the sequel. I think it has a 22 percent on rotten tomatoes last I checked. I figured that it's over-rated. 22 percent is way too high for summer popcorn story-less garbage like this. That said, I haven't seen the film myself, but I would highly recommend seeing a good film, like Up, or Drag me to Hell. Unlike the gaming industry, there are hundreds of reviews on rotten tomatoes and they don't use numerical scores to judge them, rather an overall percentage of reviewers who voted "good" or "bad" for the film. Thus, the film review system on rotten tomatoes is vastly superior to our game reviews from metacritic or gamerankings in a number of ways, and more accurately represent actual quality.

That said, people like explosions, and critical reviews will always be more weighted towards story impact, character development, and innovation, than special effects and cutseyness. If you are a fan of beauty, and believe films are a more visual medium and should be reviewed as such, then by all means, don't read reviews.

If you believe a films strength is derived mostly from its characters, storytelling, direction, art direction, and script, rather than its production values, then you would fall into the target audience for movie reviews.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I think they can be both. Every time I go to a movie, I am not expecting (or wanting), the same thing.

Sometimes I want a hot chick and lots of things blowing up. Sometimes I want a good story.

I am glad there is enough of both on the market that I don't have to decide one or the other :)

Transformers 3 is actually coming out in 2012. Paramount misinterpreted Michael Bay when he said July 4th for the release date on the next installment. He said he needs a break from robots, and he wants to do something dark. I wonder how Michael Bay will fare with that, given his record of non-stop explosions on film.

I'm seeing it tonight. I can't wait.

On another note, because of the sales of tickets for Transformers, this year is on track for a record breaking year at the box office. Now that the year has reached the halfway mark, it is now at 5.17 billion for the total gross of the year. Also, the second half of the year has the busiest holidays (July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas) so if the trend keeps up it'll be the first year where the yearly movie total gross has reached 10 billion dollars..

Recession? What recession?!?

Actually, if I recall, ticket sales (as well as other forms of relatively cheap entertainment) seem to go up during harder times. Something to the tune of trying to escape the troubles of daily life for a couple of hours. Although, buying games would provide a cheaper form of entertainment (in terms of dollars spent per hour of entertainment).
