This is what I'm saying since I saw the initial images. It's so true...

However, is unfortunately a trend these days... all around...

What's so special about The Conduit? Most of modern blockbuster FPSs look generic.

The problem isn't that they went for realist looking play over stylization. The problem is that their art department just isn't that great (so far, I'm sure they'll come in to their own). I'm sure that enemy humans have lots of polygons, textures and all that, but they just don't look good. I still think Time Splitters Future Perfect has much better looking human characters than the Conduit. But at the same time, Aliens look great because they could just make what they wanted, instead of trying to nail down just how to make a human look good.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Real interesting artstyles aren't really popular. If it is too 'arty', then the main public doens't want it.

Agree. Unfortunately, that's how it work in almost any industry: gaming, music, movie, so on...

I disagree.  The point which Stof alluded to is that people seem to be confusing 'arty' with good art style and the two are not necessarily the same.  I will, as has been done before, refer to Metroid.  It is not arty but i would argue that the three Prime games boast some of the best graphic art in 3D gaming.  Interesting, diverse, cohesive and believable environments that are a feast for the eyes.
