Forums - Sony - Sony's big Oct announcement. GTA IV this year on PS3?

Blah, ridiculous. GTA4 simply isn't finished - and the PS3 version would take longer, not less time to complete.

Rockstar/T2 couldn't deceive the market or retailers this way either. Its basically illegal.

0% chance.

Why would the PS3 version take longer f the main issue is storage space?

Why would it be illegal for Take 2 to move the PS3 release date forward if they have negotiated their way out of the deal they had with MS?

That would be huge, but unlikely.

It was most likely that it was the 360 version that was causing the delay. MS themselves confimred they had sent a dev team to help with R* on GTA IV. There is also no deal we know of between Sony and Take 2 for a day and date release so if the 360 version was ahead of the PS3 version it would come out sooner.

As I understand, they've only ever shown off GTAIV on a 360 because it had more polish than the PS3 version. I believe there was an article about it, that the PS3 was behind development by about two weeks. I'll see if I can find the article.

They only ever showed the 360 version of GTA IV because that was part of the deal with MS. Only 3 aspects of that deal have been made public.

1. Exclusive DLC.

2. Day and date release with PS3.

3. 360 version used for display.

Guess that makes this rumor bunk, eh?

That is why I pointed out the earlier rumour that Take 2 were trying to negotiate their way out of that part of the deal in the first post. We also don't know any of the clauses in the deal.

The 40gb is more important than the gta 4 news.

It won't happen....at all.

Microsoft paid Rockstar millions for exclusive content and a gaurantee basically that the game would come out on Xbox before or with the PS3.

Rockstar would have to pay LOADS of money to break the contract, I imagine.

R* (Take 2) or Sony. How much do you think Sony would [ay for GTA IV to be a holiday exclusive at this point?

Around the Network

The only way to break the contract to my knowledge is if rock* dissapears.

Now now people, you can't have two suprises in one month.

Kimi wa ne tashika ni ano toki watashi no soba ni ita

Itsudatte itsudatte itsudatte

Sugu yoko de waratteita

Nakushitemo torimodosu kimi wo

I will never leave you

The question is how much would they have to pay for breaking contract. Becouse relasing GTA4 now where there is a little competition on PS3 and Christmas are coming would make them millions. If this isn't complete rumour (which it probably is) I think that some people in T2 would calculate how much they can gain and how much they can lose for breaking the contract.

Well, if this isn't the craziest rumor ever. Anyone ready to eat some crow when this doesn't happen and they are released simultaneously?

Their is a lot of bologna being tossed around in this thread. Fellow posters are playing far too lax with a little thing called reality. The 360 version of the game was the one being demoed to reviewers for their previews of the title. Even if the the 360 version were the issue now it most certainly was not the issue when the delay was instigated. Has anyone actually seen this game run on a PS3? So how can you assume it is farther along.

Microsoft would sue Take 2 into a quivering pile of protoplasm. Microsoft is not above making an example, and if the breach of contract cost them console sales they would add that to the list of damages. Microsoft would consume everything they had like a plague of locusts. From their physical assets to their intellectual properties. You don't have to play nice with a company you would destroy, and would also cost your competition two exclusive titles.

The most likely conclusion would be Microsoft filing an injunction in court. Which would prevent the games sale. Then they would cite breach of contract and file suit to get the money they already paid Take 2 back. Not only the millions they paid for exclusive content, but the money they spent on securing the porting rights, and even the money they spent on asset allocation in the form of staff. Were Microsoft really heartless they might retract their licensing agreement with Take 2. Meaning they could not mine their player base. The result would be a Bankrupt Take 2. That would be sold at a loss to some other developer.

This rumor is about as probable as the moon turning purple. Only in a fevered fanboys imagination can such scenarios play out. Take 2 is not going to behave this idiotically for some fanboy ideal. Some posters should really be ashamed of themselves. You know better then to take the least likely scenario, and build speculation around it. Some of this speculation is not even based in reality at all. I am shocked one of you guys hasn't said and Jesus descended from heaven and told the people the PS3 was good.

I am just shocked you guys have spun a incorrect listing into a full blown scenario of PS3 domination with a game pack in on a four hundred dollar console that has not even been confirmed yet. What exactly are you guys taking that makes this seem even possible.
