I mean people on our boards (including me) are probably less efficient at guessing this optimal price than the dozens of people that Sony pays for that task (marketing division).
Or they should hire us.

Aiemond : I disagree. First, Sony is pretty happy with current PS3 sales. PS3 sells the same as the 360 worldwide but it's twice as expansive. Consumers see roughly twice more value in the PS3 right now, so my guess is the price is ok there too.
Second, if your way of thinking was true, Ipod and Iphones would have flopped. Features were poor for them compared to the price. It's all about design for this kind of products. And PSP Go looks a lot like an Iphone.
how do you adjust the screen brightness and volume on the psp go?
It looks really cool though.
I guess you adjust them on screen with the pad (?)

OK...Wrong. Any phone have more features than the Iphone then?
The first Iphone was horribly overpriced and it wasn't even 3G (no high speed internet), there already were better nokia phones, still the Iphone sold millions... because of design (the 'cool' factor), portability and marketing.

Don't buy this. It sends a bad message to Sony. It says they can take features away, charge vastly more, slap a new name on it, and it will boost sales....just no. |
I couldn't agree with you more. I decided to buy a PSP a couple of months ago but was going to wait until after E3 to see what the revision would bring to the table. Less features for more money. It's hard to believe that people are excited for this thing. As for me, I'll be buying a PSP -3000 this week.

Do you remember what time frame that $110 deal was listed?
I actually went to the Dell website and debating whether I should get it or not. Dell rolled out different deals for 10 day in a roll (they added a bonus 11th day deal after 10 days though). I am pretty sure the PSP deal sold out pretty quickly becasue I WAS THERE and DIDN'T GET THE DEAL :)

Sony is not happy with PS3 sales. They say that because it is PR. What do you think they are gonna come out and say "boy it selling like shit, too bad we can't catch the other two consoles."? It went from being market leader to being a third place console. How this can be classified as good by any means I do not know. As for selling almost as much as MS.....do you remember last gen? This is a total failure, hell this will be in text books.
As for Apple, not only are they very good at marketing but they had a good phone. Ipod had itunes which was pushed heavily. When have we seen Sony do anything resembling good marketing this gen? I will be very suprised if the psp go is anything resembling a sucess. And by sucess I do not mean Sony PR comes out and says how happy they are with sales.

I quoted that figure from another poster. Maybe I misunderstood the figure he quoted, but I assure you, any misinformation was unintentional.
I wrote:
A. To me, and most people, saying "twice the price" is a figure of speech. 70 percent increase in price is, arguably, close enough, and in my opinion, it certainly is. I wasn't attempting to spread false information, and I figured the real increase was more like 50 percent. My point was you are paying more for less, which you are.
And yes, imo, a 12 precent decrease in screensize is detrimental to gaming. It certainly isn't good. It is a bit smaller than the difference between a 42 and a 50 inch HDTV, to give some point of reference. Again, I'm not good at math, but 12% is significant when it comes to screen size for me, at least.
...and percentages don't change the fact that it costs 80 dollars more for the machine. I would love to hear the pros about the console.
