whats wrong with the 60 gig? i have it oft 2 years and 5 months nothing wrong with it.

Now my brothers special editon re5 xbox360 hm...died 2 times....

Not you again! there have been 2 thread in the last two weeks from two different people, about their PS3's getting YLOD. Your personal experiance means nothing here as it has happened to other people and the OP doesn't want it to happen to him.

why are you so pissed off about it?

@Nightwish,

hes talking about reliability.

@ klaudkil and kantor

the 60 GB IS changed, its not as reliabe as the others cause it got backward compatibilty, and Ps2 engine is different from ps3

Where's this 60GB nonsense coming from? Even if true, it's most likely because they have been around longer than others - It's not like Sony really changed how they produced the console after the 60GB.

They have changed the heatsink atleast - http://playstation.joystiq.com/2008/04/24/a-look-at-playstation-3s-third-gen-heat-sink/

First half of what you said was irrelevant. This was not meant to be an arugment, even though your leaning to it. You should have stated what you felt that was respectful, yet while still trying to be helpful to me. I want a PS3 here lol, just want good advice from somewhat knowledgable people.

Everyone needs to play Lost Odyssey! Any opposition to this and I will have to just say, "If it's a fight you want, you got it!"

Well, it sounds like if you don't get a 60GB model, you should be fine.

I think you are trolling yourself a bit too much into threads..the 60gb doesnt have any problems.. if anything its failure rate is 2% at most. The ps3's total failure rate isnt even 1%

XD...I'm trolling by stating a well known fact! One that helps reassure the OP that buying any model BUT the 60gig is fine? and you dare to call me a troll. Get lost leo-j before I decide to rip you apart for your obvious blind ignorance.

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

Reliability: fear not, the PS3 is solidly constructed, and retailers say failure rates are normal (1-2%, standard for electronics).

I've seen no substantive evidence to suggest the 60 GB machines are less reliable. Sony stopped making them for cost-cutting reasons -- the extra internal hardware to read PS2 games made the system more expensive, and most customers didn't feel backwards compatibility was important, given that PS2s are plentiful and supercheap.

But if you're worried about your machine breaking down, get a warranty from the retailer or vendor.

Well known fact? Blind ignorance? Please ironman.. dont even talk about ignorance, I love to know where you are getting this "60gb is faulty" and you better not respond by saying "random forum posts".

Aside form the numerous 60GB models that have YLODed, it is a known fact that they are the most troublesome, reguardless of what fanboys try to say. The other models seem much more solid.
