Forums - Sales - Famitsu first day sales

Well I´m very happy about Wii Sports Resort first day sales. I was hoping for this kind of number but I feared it would do something around 100 k first day or even lower. For the record do anybody know about the first day sales for Animal Crossing City Folk and Wii Fit (I know it did 260 k first week but it would be interesting to know first day)

Ok sales for Blazblue and Atelier I guess but if these games would have been on Wii with this sort of first day sales many would have cried flop and that thirdparties don´t sell on Wii. I think you have to consider what kind of title the game is and take that into consideration when judging sales. These PS3 games are kind of niche just like Arc Rise Fantasia and Muramasa on Wii and can´t be expected to sell much more than this.

While Muramasa is niche, there is no reason for the game not selling in Japan.

Atelier Rorona is looking to sell better than Arc Rise Fantastic which just shouldn't happen.

Why? Because it costed 5 times more to make? Or because it was more advertised there than Arc Rise Fantasia? Or even because of reviews?

Now this is just funny. You think Atelier Rorona costed 5 more times than Arc Rise Fantasia to make?

Hearing from those who are playing now, routsounmanman said that it's a high quality big budget title. A whole lot of work went into it. In fact, I think Arc Rise Fantasia is more graphically impressive than Atelier Rorona. I wouldn't be surprised if Arc Rise costed more.

Even moreso, because Arc Rise had TV ads whereas I can't find any for Atelier anywhere. (I then assume that it didn't have any)

EDIT: Of course this isn't even taking into account of the larger Wii userbase which supposedly loves RPGs.

Lol @ the guy that claims that Atelier Rorona costed 5 more times than Arc Rise Fantasia to make.

Disgaea 3 was probobly more expensive than MGS4 too.

I'm playing it now! I imported it from Japan. Is simply awesome. Facial expressions are better than 99,9% of high budgets RPGs... simply wonderful. In its whole, it's an amazing game, with "loads of feeling", and I'm loving it.

But it's defenitely a very low cost. No AA at all (jaggies everywhere), an amazing overworld, but that it is good because they really know how to do it... not because it costed much to do, full of 2D (shops, etc), so on. It's a very good title with very low budget.

Now, did you see Arc Rise ads on TV? Because my Japanese friends didn't see any, while Atelier Rorona is being advertised by shops on TV. Also in magazines, they covered lot more of Atelier Rorona.

Look, I really think that Atelier Rorona did OK... the same way I think Arc Rise did. There is no sense at all saying the Atelier did super sales and Arc Rise crapy, and this is what you're trying to do here, the same way you are trying to minimize Arc Rise Fantasia sales every time you have the chance, trying to implicitely expand the non existant word of "Wii doesn't sell RPG titles".

Ohh... and to say that Atelier Rorona costed less to do than Arc Rise Fantasia is something I can't understand...

You can go to the dictionary and look for the word "hyperbole". Good luck ;)

Daz, this is just to give the reference between the two titles to realize more how crazy that claim is.

I mean the resolution is obviously higher on Rorona, but Arc Rise has more detailed everything else.

outlaw, I hope the you understand "5 times more" is of course irrealist and just an exaggeration of something (I don't have much doubt it costed mor, of course not 5 times)... the same way saying that Atelier Rorona sold well and Arc Rise sold bad is an exaggeration and irrealist ;)

Well, if Arc Rise didn't sell badly, then Atelier will is going to have a better first week is selling well, no? I don't think it works quite like that, but Atelier is a niche like Muramasa and Fragile. Arc Rise Fantasia isn't a niche title, it's a standard turn based RPG.
