Ah, that news was pretty shocking. I guess these things do happen, eh?

RIP!

@ironman: No. ioi is God here!

Who is ioi? Yes I must admit, I was shocked when I heard the news...but then I thought he was 38 or something lol.

I am the owner of the site so I can ban whoever I want for whatever reason I want. If you come in a thread made to commemorate the death of someone that impacted a lot of people's lives and say things like "good riddance" you will get banned.

This forum has rules, they are expected to be followed, You cannot follow rules which are not posted. If you want to ban people for the reason you listed above, I would suggest you add that to your list of rules so people don't accidentally get themselves banned for a made up rule.

Dude.. what exactly is your problem? Stop saying bullshit. He is the owner of the site so he makes the rules, not you.

Accidently?? You didn't get banned so why are you back here again disrupting this thread? If you don't have anything nice to say when someone dies then don't say anything at all. Do the people in this thread care if you can't stand MJ or his music? NO! So why post at all?

Being in 2nd feels so much better than being in 3rd

Sad day for the world. Regardless of what you think of him as a person, he was one of, if not the greatest entertainer of all time.

RIP.

Yes, and if he wants to be fair he should post the rulse up before banning people for them.

@ Dj, you appearently didn't read my OP. You know, the part where I said a feel for all you who did enjoy his music?

Oh and let me add something else, I feel for his children, and his family. It's hard losing a loved one, I think everybody here can attest to that. However I think people are blowing this way out of proportion, and that is why some people were coming in and raining on this parade.

The forum rules aren't meant to be an exhaustive list of everything you could possibly get banned for, it just lists a number of common and obvious things that you will definitely get banned for. We couldn't possibly write a set of rules that covers every single bannable offence possible.

I understand that, but at least give them a warning the first time they do it. I mean, if I do something that is against some unwritten rule, I would like to know that it wasn't kosher, and be given a chance to fix it rather than get the seemingly knee-jerk ban.

I think when someone writes "theres a special spot in hell for him. good riddance. ", "only thing I am gonna miss about him is not being able to see his face fall off after a few more surgeries", "the kids are safe" they know exactly what they're doing.

It is:
- insensitive
- infactual
- inappropriate
- inflammatory

No warning necessary. It is one thing saying "i didn't like his music", "don't like him as a person" or whatever but they didn't do that.

I do agree with all those assesments, but the bans were for flaming, and the definition of flaming, per the forum rules is

"Insults. Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable. This includes racism and bigotry. Do not insult someone's religion, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, or gaming preferences. Debate is encouraged, but respect the beliefs and opinions of others."

No other users were attacked. Also, these people were exercising free speech within the confines of the forum rules as they are written, I mean much worse things are said about entertainers, politicians, policeman, mailmen...you name it, and yet...nobody gets banned, how was anybody supposed to think that they would get banned for doing the same of an entertainer?

(WOT) I'm actually having fun here...and I can't believe I havn't been banned yet for arguing with the site owner
