Hi guys. 

Well all I can say is that i'm new to this kind of tech.

I'm planning on buying an affordable full hd tv, however, i have some doubts:

 What is the ideal screen size- iv'e seen that on really big displays even a high definition outpout doesn't look pretty, so for ps3 gaming what screen size in inches do you recommend?

Is there any difference between projection tv's and lcd's?

Are there any other things I have to look out for, i've seen some exotic video options on the ps3 like ultra white display, ycp, rcb or something like that. =(

I would really be grateful for some advice.

42 inches minimum, but Id go for 46 inches (for a great film experience when watching Blu ray movies).

Projection TV is not good, and too bulky.

LCD or plasma.



I really want to emphasize that you can't go wrong with a BIG screen.

Bigger is better but good luck affording

There is a really good one at Sam's right now. It's a philips 42" lcd with a 50,000:1 contrast ratio for $800. 4 HDMI, everything you need. It's only $800! I say this because I made my grandpa buy one last week, and it looks awesome

I ended up going LCD for reliability / long term use but both LCD and Plasma simply look great. There is no reason not to get a 1080p TV any more. The best games support that resolution now. For difference in picture quality I tend to look for contrast ratios. The higher ones are usually better.

I'd go with a Panasonic, Samsung or Sony. 46" and up. Plasma. Depending on how much you can spend. A 720p is almost as sweet as the 1080p, again, depending on what you can spend. The money you save by buying a 720p can go towards a) a stand or b) surround sound.

You'll want one between 40"-46" Don't go over 50" you lose quailty, some tv's aren't just there yet

I've heard LCD is best for gaming and you should get one with 120Hz-240Hz refresh rate, the right HDMI cable is also important

And if you want a brand I suggest Samsung TV's best for average consumer not overpriced and great quailty

I just bought a 42" Vizio LCD. It's great. Here's the model number: Vizio 42" Class 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, SV420M and Wal-Mart has it for $798.

I like the 120hz refresh - it really makes Blus and HD-DVDs pop - and enhances regular TV as well. I am actually going to return it for a bigger version - either the 46" or the 55" one.

Depending on your living room size you might not need to go too big.

If you want 1080p display then at least get a 42" HDTV or else anything under is hardly noticeable.

There are alot of good HDTVs but i'd trust the 3S (Sony, Sharp, Samsung). Of course thats just my opinion.

If anybody's able to post those charts of how big of a tv you need compared to your room size & the distance your eyes can see different resolutions would be helpful for ffirebrand_cloud thatd be great.

Our family has a samsung LCD 650, and we're extremely happy.
and go as big as possible, but like others said, at least 42"
