Maybe I misread that, but I doubt I misread the chart where it says Total (%) of Sony Playstation 3 for 2009: 9. Page 3 of report.

Small, non representative data set (online respondents), does not usually make for good data. 

The report also claims that 13% of Americans own a 360.  So... 306,000,000 *.13 = 40 Million 360's sold in US. Again, not likely.

The data is seriously skewed towards people who have ready access to a computer and the internet.  People who we would expect to buy more technology in general, and probably gaming devices.  Hence the skewed results. 

As such, particularly taking into account the small # of respondents, the report isn't really indicative of much. 


OMG! 360 about 80% of Ps2 sales in US! in only 3 years!!! OMG 360 to pass Ps2 sales!

here in the UK,i guess like the US you can pick up good HDD dvd's for £1.99 a real bargain as my brother has an HDD 360 player....and we both love Hd movies.... good hunting in the second hand type shops.....Blu-rays dvd's...way to expensive at the moment.....rent only for me.....

but seriously to those people that always talk about streams and such....and everybody living out their media lives...you know TV,FILMS.GAMES etc.....and god knows what else...and it replacing the physical.....

how can it ever be truly reliable.....it's not a sci-fi movie and were not all billionaires to have the ultra giant light speed bandwitdh.......repalce the physical not until most of us are dead or they start giving us top quality free equipment....which do you think will happen first...?

Your absolutely delusional if you think it's going to take that long. Do you hve any idea how far we've advanced internet speeds and storage capabilities in a few short years. I gaurantee you in a maximum of 10 years digital distribution will have taken over physical in terms of movies and probably to an major extent games as well. Seriously computers haven't even been around for a single lifetime yet you think its going to take about another century before we have digital distribution, I'm sorry but thats laughable to say the least.

There's now way in hell HD DVD managed to get into 11% of American households. Back when HD DVD died off, both it an Blu-Ray combined accounted for under 5% (excluding the ps3).

I bet the people that were surveyed thought that a dvd upscaler to 1080p is an HD DVD player. You know those $99 players. Most people would think yeah I have a HD DVD player because my dvds play in HD. Not an actual HD DVD format player. Its a very confusing name
