The list here reflects that people like to gang up against the more known franchises and try to bring up more unknown, yet as good franchises.
FF was the biggest target in this list, because people pinpoint just one or two bad games in the series and use that as an excuse. WRPG's were targeted, because there was a massive shift in JRPG fans in this thread.
SMT won because it's the most popular saga nowadays, and even though it has had two games that really weren't all that good (I know i'm gonna get bashed for saying this, but the DDS games are just your typical run-of-the-mill JRPG games, they had a good story, but everything else just was bland and simplistic).

You should of been helping us out Darth, everyone ganged up on Final Fantasy it was horrible 
I stopped voting when i saw people ganging up on particular series. I tried to vote - in series i felt didn't contribute much towards RPG's in general, but it was this way since the beginning, it was just a matter of time that it would happen to FF (I said this same thing when Diablo was voted off, that FF would suffer the same fate).

Oh, come on, it's FIFTH! It's not like it ended up 23rd. And the top two are very well deserved (though they should be inverted) so I don't see what's wrong

FF is NOT the king of RPG's right now. Not after XII. SMT, on the contrary, has been a series devoid of a bad game. COMPLETELY DEVOID.
FF can take its crown after XIII comes.
