Forums - Gaming Discussion - gamming.... 1080i x 1080p really diferent? Is worth?

Hi, I have a 40" LCD TV, OLD ONE... NOT FULL HD..

I sit 4 meters from the TV, receive content from my console at 1080i with hdmi cable.. IF I change the TV for a FULL HD, I will notice any diference?

Makes sense change my TV?

Console games don't do 1080p yet. So, no.

at 4 meters probably not.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

yes they do ever heard of upscaling ???

it's not true 1080p but it really makes a deference when you have a 42'+ 1080p TV

You're probably better off for just gaming this generation with a 720P set. Its better to have 1:1 pixel mapping to your TV than upscaling on the console or using the TV upscaler (adds mucho latency).

Tease.

Do not use 1080i for gaming. 720p is better !

using the native resolution of your TV is best. You are better off letting the PS3 or X360 handle the scalling to the proper output. 720p is only better if it is the native resolution like on my 720p tv that also supports 1080i.

There are many 720P TVs that will accept 1080I signals and display "1080I" as the resolution leading people to believe they are watching 1080I. You're not. Your TV is taking 1080I and lowering it to 720P. If that's the case, you're better off sending 720P because that's what it will end up as.

If you have a real 1080P that can actually display 1080P, then no, as long as it has a good de-interlacer, there is 0 difference between 1080P and 1080I, they are the same resolution just transfered differently. However, if you can't afford a TV with a good de-interlacer, go for 1080P always.

Good news Everyone!

I've invented a device which makes you read this in your head, in my voice!

Incorrect.  No amount of upscaling will create detail that isnt there.
