Forums - Sales - GT5 will be delayed to 2010 to coincide with the Sony Mote release.

Well thats what I believe anyway.

Its Sony's biggest software release, which is also a game which sells a bucketload of peripherals. There is really no better game for them to release to kick start the momentum and adoption both for consumers as well as game developers than Gran Turismo 5. Its both an extreme vote of confidence for the peripheral to give developers incentive to really have support going for it by Christmas 2010 and its for consumers its one of the most ideal launching pads to get consumer exposure to the technology and to get them interested in its potential. I believe its more important for them to achieve a good release of their PS Mote than it is for them to sell a bunch of consoles this holiday season for the long term profit and viability of the PS3.

What would be the point of playing a driving sim with motion control as opposed to a proper wheel which GT is designed around? That doesn't seem very realistic at all, in fact it sounds like a horrible way to play. GT is not Mario Kart. It's the last game that would benefit from this technology.

No, it would be rubbish with motion controls, and while I do fear M$ will use Natal in GeoW 3 or Halo Reach, this would not happen. If they can get it out in time for the holidays with the slim, there is no reason that this game would not come out then

Polyphony Digital isn't stupid, i guess they know they would fuck up by doing this.

To be fair, 99% of the userbase for the game isn't using a wheel. They're using a sixaxis. At it's best, a Sonymote would be better than a sixaxis in terms of 'realism'. Plus, it would be a great way to pimp the Sony Mote (and remember from the entire Blu-Ray thing, Sony's entirely fine with crippling one of their properties to promote another one)

@ OP: I don't think you can say it's being 'delayed' when it never had a firm release date in the first place. I always thought GT 5 was going to release in 2010.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

Well, that's my point, why would someone buy a motion controller to play the game with rather than a wheel?

I don´t wanna be a prick but shouldn´t there be a questionmark in the title of the thread? It feels misleading. I went into it thinking it was a fact, I´m easy to fool sometimes ha ha.

Definitely seems logical to me, considering there aren't that many other first party games I can think of they could easily add motion controls to. Of course, it also seems logical that they would want to release GT5 during the holiday season, especially considering they don't have much for it this year (Uncharted 2 is supposed to release in September, after all.)

The fact that the sixaxis can easily handle driving controls already does make the possibility seem a bit less likely, though.

Are you serious, Squilliam? Sometimes it's hard to tell with you >_>

No way im sure $ony will announce other racing game to go with motion control. They don't want to take away the driving simulation experience from GT, which is what the GT series is know for.
