 I am not sure why I am even responding to this nonsense, but I am.  God does not send people to hell, people send themselves when they break His Law.  You, like I, and everyone else are damned to Hell because we have broken God's Law (the 10 Commandments).  This is why God sent His only Son to suffer and die and make payment for your sins.  "God commendeth His love toward, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us".  One day you will stand before God and you will be judged for breaking His law, not playing video games.  Unless you repent of your sins and trust in the blood that was shed for you, you will spend an eternity in Hell.  The choice is yours, not God's.  He gave you a chance at salvation, now you can accept it or reject it.

Play video games for fun there is nothing wrong with it and nobody can tell you otherwise, unless your some kind of Monk or you think playing video games makes your brain rot and you should be reading or going outside.

God doesn't care if you play video games or not, it won't make you any more or any less "Holy". The problem with most people in the world is, they all have no idea what God is like or who he is. Everyone has their own little view of God based on what they want to think and not what is already shown about him. Then we're left with little idols in our minds that we call God.

Hmm.

Ultimately, it comes to a few core things about playing any M-rated game:





#1. Does it, or will it influence and effect you in a negative way? Obviously RE4 has a bit of Violence last time I checked (on PS2, lol). But will doing that effect you?

M-rated games are rated as such for M-rated mentalities. Some people can't get through RE4 or GTA, or other M-rated games and not be influenced and effected by them. The most important thing you must ask yourself: is playing this game going to effect my core character, and change myself?

Resident Evil 4 is pretty much by-the-book in terms of gameplay, there are no 'evil' choices like KOTOR, and your pretty decent (in terms of moral character) in the game. IMO, in that way, it wouldn't be a problem.

So then, it comes down to: can you handle the violence and not be effected by it? Also, Resident Evil 4 is ultra-awesome (duh, 95% avg. ranking on gamerankings.com). Will you be addicted by the game, and take your focus away from reading the Bible, and/or prayer? Will the game keep you up too late and prevent you from Bible studies, and having good moral and ethical character (ie, 5hr gaming binge followed by really poor school attendance/abilties the next day).


Those are questions you must ask yourself. Ultimately, the core characteristic of any Christian is to glorify God. Resident Evil 4 is "neutral" in the fact that it may, or may not, effect you, like many other things in life. You MUST determine yourself if you can handle the game, and what it offers, for good, bad, or awesome.

The game can be said for anything in life gaming-wise. Does it take time away that you normally spend with God? Do you spend time in prayer/Bible reading at all? Is it because of videogames? If so, spend less/no time with games until you build a close and good relationship with Jesus Christ. That should help you determine if a game is good or not.


Just merely chosing crazy, insane choices in a game don't validate you being good, or bad in real life. What matters is if you randomly bashing people with a car in GTA:SA is what you are about in real life.

Now, obviously there should be limits: henati/pron games and activities aren't good at all, and should be avoided, so no hot coffee mods, kids :)

But I agree with other posters: if you know that God is telling you not to play a certain game, don't. It's as simple as that. Ask God what you should do, and if He says something specific, listen.

Ah. So, people send themselves to hell. That mean Buddhists go to hell? And Taoists? And Hindus? They have just as much faith in their religion as you. You can't both be right, but none of you can prove squat. I'm going to live my life exactly the way I feel like. If it turns out there IS a god, and he IS a douche and sends me to hell for no good reason, then at least I'll be where I belong.

P.S. I heard someone talking earlier about how thinking evil thoughts is a sin. I have a form of OCD that constantly shuffles hyper-violent images through my head at all times whether I like it or not. I would imagine that would send me to hell then, wouldn't it? Despite the fact that I have no control over it. If there is a god, it sure was nice of him to make sure I would never go a waking second without mentally sinning.

you dont go to hell for playing violent games. Its just that I want to follow Gods word. Anyway, I prayed to God, and I think i got a good answer. RE4 would scare and disturb me, so I shouldn't play it.

If god is such a control freak, maybe you don't want to go to heaven anyway ^_^
