Forums - Gaming - PS3 Ghostbusters is NOT 75% of the Xbox resolution!!!!!!!!!

right just told one of my friends who was gonna buy it, about this

Its gone from a must-buy to a "meh, might pick it up if I have money" for him

If this kind of mentality is mirrored throughout people, Ghostbusters may be in a for bumpy ride SW wise on the PS3

Well I figured this would happen. When I first saw the specs of the PS3, I thought 256MB main memory would be a limiting factor someday even though the overhead for the OS than a typical windows OS. Sony should have ponied up to 512MB.

Really?  Explain Uncharted, MGS4, Killzone 2, GT5P, etc

You get where I'm going with this?

They're all great games.  I played all of the except for GT5P.  But sometimes I get the feeling that the levels are small because they won't fit into main memory easily or have to be streamed in from the hard drive or bluray thus you get a stutter when you progress to the next mini sublevel.  I don't know this for a fact, it could be just a limitation of the engine or design consideration.  But the levels feels compartmentalized.

The stutter you get in Killzone 2 is there because there are no loading screens.  I don't recall any stutter or loading screens at all in Uncharted.  The multiplatform games have the same level size and loading screens, some of these on the PS3 require installs but that is a limitation of the Blu-ray speed, not memory size.  As it has been pointed out numerous times, the PS3 has 512 of memory as well.  The only difference is 256 of it is extremely fast and dedicated to the GPU.  The 360 uses a unified memory approach similar to the approach used in cheaper pcs/laptops.

X360 is a cheap PC confirmed!

Let's spread the word!

Ok, tell all your friends not to buy this game. do you think they will make any more ps3 games?

It's not better if we support bad games...

I hope Terminal Reality doesn't.

@bmaker - lol.  If only MS would add a web browser, I could get rid of my other cheap pc.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

its a strange one this. res is deffo lower on ps3. but same game. its the ps3 version i will get
but devs should look at other bigger grafix heavy games like resident evil 5, wolverine or even the new fight night. the cross platforms are very comparable.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

PS3 has 512 MB, the thing is that those 512 MB are divided in 256 for the CPU and 256 for the GPU, while the 512 MB on the Xbox360 are free to use any percentage on the CPU or the GPU, this is one of the things devs don't like about the PS3, but the great mayority already know how to work with the 256/256 of the PS3

For me, Terminal Reality did and unexcusable thing... They were leading on the PS3, which means that they knew about the RAM issue, so the moment they found how to do the distribution it was easier to translate that to the 360... They didn't even mention the Cell vs the Xenon or the RSX versus the Xenos, they mentioned only the RAM: "The PS3 does have less available RAM than the 360 – but we managed to squeeze 3 out of 4 textures as full size on the PS3."

It really is irresponsible development, if this was by the time of the Madden fiasco that would be ok, but now this issues are a thing of the past, every other dev has come up with a solution for this without crazy delays...

My question is: Is the extra content good enough so i buy the PS3 version instead of the PC one?

You already know it will be bad?

And I think if you make it so that they don't make any money off of the PS3, that would more give them reason to support the PS3 less.

@dsister

no then next time, they'll actually not make the PS3 version 50% less resolution wise
