As long as they advertise this as the sequel to COD4:MW, then everything will be fine. And well all know this game will see tons of advertisements

I think it's a smart move because they'll come out with 2 huge and powerful brand names if they pull of MW2 properly.

Enough of the core market will recognize it to make it a non-issue.

I like it better without the Call of Duty name. It's separating the magic that is Modern warfare from the mega shit Treyarch games.

You have to remember what the CoD name meant in terms of sales before Modern Warfare when assessing the situation. The fact is, it's MW that pushed the franchise into being one of the top out there.

I'm pretty sure Activision's advertising campaign will make sure that people know this.
